terrorist trial in new york?

this is just wrong. in this case i believe that bush was correct to keep them off u.s. soil. however, they should have been shot before it led to torture. I was surprised no one brought this up or I didn't find it.

They, the terrorist, should have been shot on the field or within a month. I am afraid that this will lead to our revolution. We are overdue. We almost had one because of the bank debacle.

Trials are for those terrorists who escaped. Then we have to prove that they are guilty when we have enough evidence. These terrorist do not get that kind of justice. This was war. They were caught. period.

Soldiers caught on the field of battle are incarcerated in POW camps. POW's normally are not brought to trial, just imprisoned until the end of the war unless they broke international law; war crimes. However there is no end to the war of terror in sight.

9.11 was an undeclared war by civilians, not an army. Terrorists captured in the field of battle is completely different.

About 215 detainees remain at Guantánamo, although about 90 have been cleared for release. There are three issues for prosecution:

• It is fitting that 9/11 suspects face justice near the World Trade Center site where so many New Yorkers were murdered.

• Commissions will handle detainees who cannot be tried in civilian courts for reasons of evidence, security or applicable charges.

• Detainees who are deemed too dangerous to release but too difficult to prosecute will probably come to the United States for preventive detention — essentially holding them indefinitely without trial.

Since 2001, 195 cases of terrorism have been uneventfully prosecuted in civilian courts, with 91% ending in convictions, But this little factoid surely won't stop Republicans from exploitative political posturing.

OK... I'll exploit it:

Both the POTUS and Attorney General have pubically stated the KSM is Guilty and will recieve the Death Penalty...

So, picture the Defense starting out by saying "Your Honor, my Client cannot recieve a fair trial as the Jury Pool has been tainted all across the Nation He must be released"...

This will turn and bite the Obama Administration big...

FW: ""Your Honor, my Client cannot recieve a fair trial as the Jury Pool has been tainted all across the Nation He must be released"...

And if that happens, what then?

Has it not occurred to you that the potential tainting originated from the Bush Admin conveniently trashing Habeas Corpus and Due Process?

The government has had years to accumulate and organize compelling and admissible evidence. If they haven't done it by now, then either they can't or they didn't want to be bothered because their bosses were in sympathy to the "shoot now; ask questions later" philosophy.

I'm sorry, but you good people don't seem to understand that either the rule of law applies to all of us, or it applies to none of us. While the Declaration of Independence is dictum and not a legal precedent, the phrase "ALL MEN are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights..." doesn't appear to be a given that only means "ALL AMERICANS..."

Somehow, that doesn't appear to be quite reasonable.

Spin all you wish, but Public Opinion will comdemn the Obama Admin... Whose poll numbers are already dropping like the proverbial rock.

They pushed the issue over Military Tribunals, where I feel is the best venue.

What LLL said! Bush filled the minds of "some " American so full of fear and if you add that to the Foxx noise there is no reason left! We used to be a country of we can, and we will -- not the country that the right has built of fear and lack of reason and law!

Fly, you seem to be pushing awfully hard for an idea you think will come from public opinion. If you really believe that all you have to do is sit back and wait it out and you will be forever proved right. In the meantime, may the trials go on.

Yup, agreed Merlin.

Waiting, watching and cheering it all on.

The WH made a mistake, and they will pay the price.

That's Politics.

we have two emotions... fear and love.
all the rest is variations of the fear and love.
i fear.
I believe it will cause undue stress on our people.
So belief is not knowing.
cheny and bush may have orchestrated it to become heros out of chaos. but you can't manipulate harmony. you can only manipulate chaos.

i fear.
so I want it done and over whoever did what.
back to stress free days and harmony.

chuckle... i sound like a hippie... love/ peace! but kill them first. something is wrong with me... ha.

From what I can see, either you want the accused to go to trial or:

1) you don't believe that the 220 year old American legal system is robust enough to process really tough guys.

or

2) you want to short cut the justice process and just skip to execution.

What do people with baseless fears like that usually call themselves?

PATRIOTS!
