We have no traditions. For years I had to work since I was a nurse and had to work 2 out of 3 of the major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years) So dinner revolved around me going early or someone saving me a plate. A lot of years I worked second shift.
Of course, turkey and all the trimmings is my favorite food and I do manage to have some every year. Some years I cooked early, other years Tom went to family's homes.
Gee, no creative recipes.........the usual fare.
This year we are eating dinner out as I cooked for company last year. It is just the two of us.
Unless Sherry wants to join us at a restaurant.

My son has attempted to plan something. I think I'm going to Captiva. Really love it down there.
Most years I prepare the meal. Lots of preparation for a very short meal... :-)
CRANBERRIES! I love the cranberries,in all forms :))
From Champagne to dessert.
I'll take Captiva, too. That sounds wonderful. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. I'm supposed to go to friends in Bradenton, but depends on what my daughter is doing.
I love all the Thanksgiving food.
My tradition is to let Publix do the cooking. I've been spending Thanksgiving on St. Pete Beach for several years. There will be about 20 of us. We didn't know each other until we were all at the same hotel a few years ago and now we are together every year. I really look forward to seeing everyone. Our Tahnksgiving is really international. There is a couple from England and usually one from Nova Scotia.
Pat,that's sounds like so much fun! What a neat way to share a holiday. And neat that other countries are sharing your holiday. A lot to be learned from that. :)
My sister usually does Thanksgiving, but her house is tore apart. She's putting new wood flooring in and removing all the carpet, except for her bedroom. So she's not in the shape to do it. I know this guy that always cooks about 12 turkey's for the Turkey Trot runner's. Lots of people stop by, but no trimmings to go along with it. I love all the traditional Thanks Giving food. Mash potatoes & gravy with the dark meat. Pumkin Pie with whipped topping!!!!
We did use the Publix pre-made dinner a few times and it was great.
Captiva sounds awesome.

KULPN, My son is a nurse too and will be working from 7PM to 7AM . He said that the drs. and nurses are bringing dinner to the hospital. He said that he was going to make an apple cranberry pie. He wants me to save him a plate from our dinner, but he always cooks too.
I have to work until 730am thankgiving morning so will go home take care care of the pets get a nap, then I'm traveling out of town all the way from Mulberry to Dover... My dtr has been doing the holiday cooking for a few years now, I love it, just hang out and eat.
Potluck at work on the 25th, the 2 guy nurses will bring a turkey, and a ham, us gals will provide the rest. Since I'm baking pies to take to my dtrs, I'll make a couple extra for work, just eating a few bites to be socialable, saving my appetite for the family meal.
My favorite part of the meal is the dressing/stuffing made with white bread or corn bread doesn't matter I'll eat it.
