You just did one thing by putting up this post, which will make people think of the need to be compassionate.
Anything that helps others is a good thing to do -- whether it's volunteering at a soup kitchen or listening to a friend who needs to talk. Life presents us with opportunities to improve the world all the time -- we just need to be open to them.
And there is always the 'not doing' aspect as well. Not meddling in other's lives, not giving an unasked-for opinion, not doing something you know might be hurtful.
There are many ways to give, aren't there. Why is it when we are younger, we find so many excuses not to give, and so many reasons why we can't.
Many of the Zen masters would say that you know when you're leading your best life when you no longer think about it!
"Before enlightenment, chop wood and carry water; after enlightenment, chop wood and carry water".
Namaste!
PrinevilleBob,
I like that lesson.
