Met a dying agnostic

Met a dying agnostic...today.
Raised as a Lutheran....mom gave him the choice at age 14.

He investigated other religions and came to understand if all claim to be the true religion...something is not right.

We discussed the problem of suffering & the golden rule in almost all traditions.

What a neat guy.

Hope someone can talk my language someday!

Yes, agnostic folks die too. My parents were non-believers to the last.

HI,
A very touching story. He must have derived much solace from having you beside him. My theory: If there was a god who gave us 'free will' and we respected our intellectually-derived path of life, using this free will, then a just god would give us salvation if there was such a thing. There is no need for all these layers of doctrine.

I honored him for having the courage to at least try various beliefs...
before he decided.
For many of us one religion was enough.
Some may have been blessed by not having been screwed up in the first place.
