heading south

I will be leaving on about 10 days for Florida....Then in Apr I will be heading north...so I must clean out my cupboards twice a year. I have never been able to get them to work so that I have decent meals these times of the year. I just love browsing here to get ideas of what to do with what I have left in the cupboard. Thank you all for the donations.
Tonight the crockpot is going full blast...that takes care of a lot of odds and ends...but the coming week will be strange but tasty.
Anyone else have this problem???

We would never be gone for more than a few weeks or a month, so we would just store most everything in the fridge or freezer! Milk, OJ, coffee, etc. will keep well there.
My in-laws would pack up everything including herbs and spices and take them home with them.

we are gone for 5-6 months....I fly now so I cant carry anything with me. It is just too much trouble at the border.
For lunch we had cheese and bacon sandwiches.
Tonight we are having bread pudding that gets rid of all the bread products in the freezer. Leaves me with a couple of eggs for omelets. I have a squash in the oven with the bread pudding and I will do some chicken breasts with stuffing for dinner. This doesnt sound too bad but they are getting stranger as the days go by.

I live with my daughter - we don't like all the same things. We have lots of "strange" "using up stuff" meals. I find you can use up all sorts of things to make soup. I grew up on bread pudding my grandmother made using up the last of the prior week's homemade bread before the next baking day. I think that's how bread pudding originated.

Tonight we had the last of the sausages and corn fritters. I needed to use up some frozen corn and some Bisquick... They were not my favourite fritters but they tasted good....and Hal liked them. They are not gone but there is a lot less in the packages now.
