Is Romance simply moonlight walks on the beach?
This is actually in reply to Wurdguy's reply to my Jude Law or Jack Black? message....For me, romance is more than the "falling in love" kind, though that is a part of it. Romance seems to encompass noticing beauty and magic in the world (or even in my own mind) of all kinds... Falling leaves two months ago made me swoon... Now, the ice on the pond is beginning to form and there's a new wood duck sitting on the deck. Romantic? sigh, yes... and old fashioned things like letter writing, real Christmas trees with real (not reproduction) ornaments... and fresh smelling clothes in from the line instead of the dryer. Photos in an album (ok, in addition to online), classic authors and stories (admitedly love stories...i.e. Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice)... and real crafting, baking, chickens in the back yard...
OK, I'm getting lost in my own mind...
Noticing the small things in life and even sometimes on the television (like the current pbs National Parks History -- God, the photography is so exquisite, I'm ready to purchase an RV and take off -- right NOW!) is the perfect romantic moment. I remember my 16 year old grandson had his first birthday party since preschool years. He and several guy friends sitting outside quietly roasting marshmallows at night in the fire pit... a visual moment that will remain in my mind forever....
I would be interested in what others have to say about romance??? Is this site meant only for those romantic moments with someone of the opposite (or in some cases, same) sex? What say all of you?
