Christmas Stockings

We are doing a Christmas Stocking challenge in my Altered Arts group, which made me think of days gone by in my family.

Do you do stockings for your adult kids? I know you probably do for your grands.

It is so hard to find stuff to put in them that is inexpensive. Little kids and teenage girls are easy. But everyone else? Tough.

I don't do stockings for my grown kids or my grandkids. Only people living in my house get stockings. Stocking stuffers are EXPENSIVE! I would rather not spend the $20-$30 on junk for my grandkids and put it towards a better gift for them. Last year I did a Christmas stocking box for my daughters - filled with all kinds of toiletries - and although they ribbed me about giving tampons for Christmas (lol) they have lately been dropping hints about how they're running out of this or that and are looking forward to their Box again.

I love to do stockings. That is more fun than the gifts. It challenges you. Sometimes I put expensive items in them and other times it cheap so they never know. Everyone loves their stockings.

I do love stockings. Thought I might even do one for myself this year. And last year I did one for my stepson because he was all alone. But this year I am wondering about my oldest. I don't think he is going to bother to come home so I don't think I will do one. It is hard to know when to stop, but I would say anyone who isn't here Christmas morning would be a good one to cut out. But we will see.

We have still done stocking stuffers for our adult kids. Even the ones living out of town. We haven't done any for this year, so this may be the year we stop.

We often to got the Dollar store for things. Cheap books for the Grandkids etc. We also often do a package of their favorite candy, or even crackers in the stockings.

A package of socks can also end up on their socks.

As a side note my aunt made my Christmas sock, my mom did my kids, and I have been making the DIL/SIL my hubby and grand kid socks. So stockings are a big deal in our house.

I used to do stockings for my family, when everyone was home. I don't do them for my grandchildren because they are too far away.

We don't do stockings for adults in our family. My 24yo son hasn't had one for several years. This will be my 18yo son's first year without a stocking; will be interesting to see how he reacts. My daughter is 13yo we will do one for her. We only have one grandchild (this year - another one due in July!) and he will not be with us for Christmas morning, so I will send his mom some cash to contribute to stocking stuffers for him.

We would browse endcaps, register lanes, and office supplies aisles at the stores. We try to find quirky and unusual items that are things they wouldn't normally buy for themselves, and also include candy and cash.
