I've not read any by this author, not sure why, will have to check her out.
Her Poisonwood tree is my all time favourite book. I liked Bean Trees as well. But some of her later stuff I could not read. I wonder hat she has been doing?? Should look her up on the web.
Prodigal Summer is my all-time favorite novel by this author, and I've read them all, except the new one. Her book of essays, Small Wonder is thought-provoking and elicits much discussion.
I also liked Bean Trees and Small Wonder. I could not get into Animal Dreams; maybe will try again later. Thanks for your recommendations; I will plan to read Poisonwood Bible and Prodigal Summer too.
I recall Kingsolver's
THE POISONWOOD BIBLE was a compelling read.

Poisonwood Bible was incredible. It took her years to write. She first wrote individual accounts from each character's perspective. She then compiled the best into one novel with chapters that alternatively tell the story from each character's point of view. A must read IMHO!
sorry for the faux pas...of course it is Poisonwood Bible. When I think about the story I just see that tree standing there.
Have not read her latest book, but I have to agree with you gals here that Poisonwood Bible was an awesome read. Also liked Bean Trees. I think one of her latest books was to do with gardening and is not a fiction book. Am I right, does anyone know?
Yes, her last book was called Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. It is non-fiction and tells about her family's effort to eat only food grown locally. Must admit, it's been sitting in my TBR stack for 2 years. I really should read this book.
I also read the "Poisonwood Bible" it is one of my favorites and one
of a few that I keep after reading. I highly recommend it.
