Out of It

Hi Diners - - - been really under the weather for four or five days and just got back on the site today. I just wondering how everyone's Thanksgiving plans are coming along.

Glad your doing better,friend....
My Thanksgiving plans are to go out to eat and come home and watch rented movies.
I will be with a friend,though.....

Same here, I refuse to cook this year and I'm not being tortured by football games. Movies for me as well.

That sounds good to me Storm! Since I'm by myself for now, I really have no choice but to go out for dinner & yes I'll be watching tv with a friend as well. :)

I'm still old fashion I cook turkey and sides complete with dressing from my grandmothers recipe,no box stuffing for me. I do buy the pumkin pie though lol, then maybe football or visiting my mom and dad, this year is special my daughter is off,she had to work it the last six years so I'm looking forward to that.Ouch I just noticed you guys said no football. I'm a fan so I have to.

I havent been off for the past ten years or so so I will be doing it all. I'll watch a movie while hubby will be watching football. thats ok I am going to pamper myself. Most of dinner will be done ahead of time just waiting for the oven.

Well,I don't cook a big dinner at home,cuz there is just me,now.
I'd much rather have some family and cook Thanksgiving dinner!
In fact,my dressing was "the prize" so to speak, back when I had family and when my children came around me.

I will be cooking it all, then loading it up to take to my mom's house. I sure am dreading it, but at her age you never know when the last holiday with her will be.

Yes granny. I miss mine and missed the last few years of her life as well as her funeral because of my sister not notifying of her condition. She claimed that she didn't have my phone number. My number is always listed in the phone book so all she had to do was a search on the internet white pages

This year will be a little weird for us, as it is the first year since my ex and I split up. It was an 18 year marriage... Good riddance!

Anyway... I'm determined that it will be as "normal" as possible for us. I think we need to be together and do the cooking as a family.

The menu is:
Turkey
Cornbread Dressing (My Great-Grandmother's receipe)
Giblet Gravy (My Great-Grandmother's receipe)
Potato Salad w/ caramelized onions & crumbled bacon
Green Bean Casserole w/mushrooms, caramelized onions & crumbled bacon
Cabbage w/potatos & ham
Field Peas w/onions & ham hock
Cranberry Sauce, chilled
Brown & Serve Rolls... lightly buttered
Brownies (My Great-Grandmother's receipe, w/pecans)
Sweet Potato Pie w/pecans and toasted marshmallows on top

(ALL HOMEMADE OF COURSE!)
