Sorry for your family stuff, hope things work out soon. It's good you've got JD Robb. I just finished Kindred in Death, her last one.
Aren't they great books?! Enjoy!! I became obsessed with them a couple of years ago and am eagerly awaiting my turn at the newest one. I think (if I ever get caught up on the new books I keep ordering from the library!) your idea of re-reading them is great and I just may do that also.
That's the one I'm waiting for, barb; how was it?
I re-read the complete series a couple of years ago. They are great books! I'm nearly through Kindred in Death. If life wasn't just so darn busy the past few days, I could spend more time with my book! For those who haven't read it yet, it's really good.
Moseyer - hope life settles down a little for you so you can have more time for the important things - like reading & us!!!
I've re-read them all too - at least once & I ALWAYS re-read the previous one before starting the new one. I like to get back into that atmosphere. Right now I'm re-reading "Promises" with "Kindred" waiting in the wings! This is a series that I buy & keep.
midwife228, I really enjoyed Kindred in Death, although I guess "enjoyed" isn't really the right term, as it was really disturbing to me, the crime, more than usual, for some reason, and gave me nightmares for several nights, but I'm still glad I read it, because there was so much more to it than the disturbing parts.
Can't wait to get hold of Kindred - I'm not surprised it's so good! What I'm especially loving in the re-read process is seeing how expertly Robb develops the ongoing relationships, introduces new important characters, and always has a few sentimental moments that bring a quick and satisfying sob! I do need to stop here more often in the thick of things!!
Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone. Among other things, my younger sister had a double masectomy yesterday and no one knows if they got all the cancer. It was a fast-growing and aggressive form that took hold in a few months. We have a family history of it, so all of us are careful and that didn't seem to be enough. Scary stuff.
Moseyer, so sorry to hear about your younger sister, but I pray that all will be well for her in the future, and of course, the rest of you in the family. I heard on the news today that they are wanting women to wait until they are 50 years old before getting yearly mammogramms, which is not right. Many women's lives have been saved from early mamoogramms, so I hope that we are able to squash that recommendation from where-ever it came from that we wait until 50 years old.
Anyway, glad you are taking some time to read as I find it helps the mind relax and forget some of our troubles we all have now and then.
Today the library informed me that I now have another book on hold, "Olive Kittridge,"by Elizabeth Strout, so now I will have three books to read, and since they are on the best seller list, I will not be able to keep them more than the allowed two weeks. Guess I will have to forget cooking and housework and concentrate on reading.!!!!
jimsgarbo ,
OLIVE KITTERIDGE is a collection of 13 tales which Publisher's Weekly describe as easy to read and impossible to forget. I read it when it first came out and found it perfect for taking to gym, waiting rooms and for times when you want a short, good read. I've gifted it to several. Enjoy!

moseyer, my good thoughts go out to all of you. In the way of encouragement and good hope, my dil underwent a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy about 2 and a half years ago, sounds similar to what your sister is dealing with, family history, too, and had been careful. So far she is doing well, and her prognosis is excellent. I'll be hoping for the same for your sister.
