Special projects class

I had the Best Time at the Apple store! This class is designed for 6 participants and for some reason folks just don't realize how great it is and they think they won't get personal attention so they sign up for one2one - and I have the class all to myself for 3 HOURS! I had taken lots of pictures in Arizona and also some movies and when I looked at the movies they were awful..just little snippets of film - BUT Jonathan showed me how to merge the movies into one movie and the result is a pretty interesting 5 minutes!!Then I made an album of Arizona and I'm busy now trying to label everything - but what a great time I had! Not only that, but I can share my whole album with Jennifer - since we both have mobilme - and she could watch the movie! My little camera is amazing and downloading is no problem - not only that, I also have the movie on my iphone! I'm going back to S.C.next week and now that I know how to do it, I'll make more movies! I can also send a link to my other kids, too! Being able to edit film is a great help! Years ago, I went to Australia and had a video camera (the kind you held on your shoulder!!) and I was so impressed with the Sydney Opera House I took about 15 minutes of the view! Talk about boring! It was awful! Now my camera fits in my pocket AND I can edit it to avoid that mistake!

Hi, janefrancis. I'm heading to the Apple Store here in Charleston on Thursday to look at the new iPhones. Decisions, decisions. I hear there will be a new model next June. Can I wait or do I want it now?

It all depends on your wants and needs, Techie. The iPhone has a lot of great capability, but unfortunately the Verizon commercials are right - unless you're in a big metro area, AT&T's 3g network is almost nonexistent. It doesn't phase me, since the iPhone can handle EDGE (2.5G) network as well, but any web crawling is significantly slower on EDGE. On the other hand, what the iPhone is fully capable of is great. For one thing, it's very easy to use compared to its predecessors (i.e. Blackberry) and it's possible to find any number of free or paid apps to do anything within the capability of the phone. With the 3G(S) model, even video recording is possible.

However, if you're wanting a good but cheap video recorder that has music capability (or vice versa) then consider the new iPod Nano as an intermediary while you wait for the new model iPhone for 2010. I, personally, use a Flip Mino HD as my 'carry everywhere' camcorder, but if I hadn't already customized and purchased the Flip, I'd have been very tempted to the new Nano myself.

And yes, iMovie 09 really makes editing and burning easy.

I've been using the 1st generation iPhone for over two years and love it. While on an Apple forum, I was reminded that the new phones are so much faster. The local AT&T store person told us that 3G will be available in our home area this fall; the tower is about 3 miles down the road and we live in a rural area. I think that true GPS is probably the most important factor for me wanting to update; we use the iPhones for navigation while we travel. Yes, the apps are great. I can amuse myself all day with what I've downloaded. And hubby says that if I agree that he can get the 'iTablet' when it's released, he'll go along with me getting a new phone. That's an offer I can't refuse! Think I might give the old phone to our DIL since she has wi-fi at college and she doesn't need a cell phone.
