I loved these 3-D slides. My favorite and first slide was of Little Red Riding Hood - nothing quite like scaring a 4-year-old with a 3-D wolf with fangs. lol
LOL, Ollie that must be why you like your ginger beer! Just kidding! That one was scary!
My sister was living in Detroit for three years in the late 1950's and she sent me the viewmaster with several discs of touristic scenes in America. Around the same time, I had also been given an exquisitely made box, complete with lock and key, in which I kept the viewmaster and discs. I lent it to someone called Elizabeth and never saw it again.
I wish I could find that girl (woman) because the viewmaster was made of bakelite which has become something of a collectors' item. If I could get it back, I wouldn't sell it - I'd want to look at those pics again, but I suspect Elizabeth has thrown it out by now. I don't know if she's even alive now!
Ah memories - another segment for my memoirs.

Oh, I loved my Viewmaster! Relatives who took trips would often bring me viewmaster disks of the places they'd been - whetting my appetite for travel! I also had a special carrying case to store the disks in. Wonder why they faded out of favor?
They still have viewmasters. But made realy cheep Kids dont seem to like anything that isnt done for them any more
So true Lazy, my oldest son got one when he was young and I think I spent more time playing with it than he did, it sure brought back wonderful memories for me! I wonder if they will sit around 40 years from now a reminice about the PS2's?
I love the Viewmaster! I still have some of my old reels like Bonanza, Gunsmoke and the Waltons. When we took a trip in the 70's from Alberta, Canada to Disneyland, we bought Viewmaster reels all along the way of each state and some of the attractions.
