Yes it is ana......I agree.....of course what we do has a lot to do with what others think.....and that's a good thing. I don't think we should let others tell us what we should do or how we should look. I do think that wanting to look nice or "be"nice for others is a good thing. We all like to think that others find us attractive or pleasing.....I do....I have never been one to let others tell me how to dress....but I try really hard to look as nice as I can. For myself and others.
I think almost everyone cares what others think about them, up to a point. Many of those that use this phrase often are really secretly driven by what others think, or say.
I suspect we never respond to this claim when we hear it, and silently have our doubts. If you want some fun, try challenging someone when they say this. You can thereby launch your own tirade/diatribe, and sit back in awe and amazement, wondering at the marvel of your creation.
Im not actually sure Ana, but we need to be careful what influences our thinking, each one of us has core principles good or bad,
the question is what is considered correct by the social standards which I dont personallly believe exist anymore , may in butte montana or somewhere in the world not affected by TV and Videos and the such.. even in Tibet you get TV ...
That is what I would call a half-truth. We were raised to care about what others think. I think many of the questions posted to this group are people wanting to know what others think, even if the poster claims they aren't.
"I don't care what others think"-that could be just a way to rationalize doing something you know is wrong.
Im with Halboy on this one, people doing what they want and not whats right... too me it sounds like a spoiled brat ....
It has always irritated me when nearly the first thing a person says when you meet them is,"You'll have to get used to me,I say what I think!"......And they use it as a license to make cracks or to be rude!
And so,I just avoid them, all the more.....

you know thats a true statement as well storm,
halboy....that can work more than one way.....You can be doing the right thing....and others are trying to encourage you to join them in doing something that goes against your core values.....you can be made fun of for not joining them.....and when I know I am doing what is really right for me....I don't care what anybody thinks!....I am the one who has to live with the decisions I make.
