WHAT AM I MISSING?

After looking at theis wonderful tribute to Obama, I am perplexed. Whenever someone or a group is against him, they say that "they just don't trust him" Ya know like the rightwinging, gun toting so -called "patriots" Who BTW numbers are growing dangerously.. When I view this tribute I see the most honest, trustworthy, intelligent man. Him & his family represent the absolute "perfect" family.. I would have given anything to have that sort of family ties.. Please review this vid & tell me what I may be missing. Am I that bad a judge of character?

I don't think you're missing anything...at least, not in context of personal character and family.

While I support Obama and believe he's come a long way toward proving himself capable and effective... even against the tide of political hysteria the far-right that's become the core of the GOP is instigating...the fact that he's a nice guy with a terrific family doesn't necessarily make him a good president.

until our country becomes truly color-blind there will be some who cannot see past Obama's .

In order to not appear racist they say they 'just don't trust' him. Without one shred or iota of evidence to the contrary...

Any time such a huge sector of this country hangs it's hat on the stuff of nonsense ie: birth certificate and the like you know there is still underlying bigotry.

I just think the republicans got a good spanking, and they're still crying about it.

I kinda like the idea of a decent moral man running the country. Who wants the best for the average citizen.. He's also one of the more intelligent beings around.. Constitutional lawyer. Sounds perfect.. How could that combo NOT be good?

I really feel that this Man is the last hope to improve this country's status. He is not perfect but I feel he is honorable and is really trying to do positive things. If he is brought down I despair of the future of this country. We are already in serious decline in many ways eg education, infrastructure, mass transit, improved power grids. gap of wealth, green tech. Whle fighting the change to green tech construction in this country, China and India are now pulling ahead .
At the time of this country's greatest peril since the depression ,when we should be working together ,we are more isolated and doomed to do nothing. It seems we are more interested in our own situations than for the common good.
The country is buying the fear card again. I think we are becoming a nation of wimps, fearing every thing.
Even the movie 2012 is scaring people. The prison is scaring people even though we already have terrorists in prison. People seem to have lost the ability to think for themselves, acting on fear alone.

No your not missing anything.
those that are missing something and against him are mostly missing a lack of judgement and common sense.
look at the fear others instilled into good folks about the health care issue.

If you watch The Fake News day after day and beleve what you are seeing and hearing it messes you up. And then of course there are still those who, no matter what they say, hate him because he isn't white.

I wont' say anything for or against the man, he still must prove himself at this point.

I'm very disappointed that this thread has not yet used the word "policy" which is really what we should be judging him on. Sadly though, all anyone talks about is racism, rightwingers, fear, etc.

Aren't we supposed to be discussing his ideas and his actions?

I agree with lovesgift.
If you watch the Media Talking Heads you will have fear and distrust in many things. I think we have grown up believing that if you hear it from Brokaw or someone like him it must be well researched and true.

I also think that in our guts we think (even with evidence to the contrary) that Politicians are in the game for their Constituents, that Doctors are in it for healing and altruistic reasons, that the majority of teachers really give a damn about education, journalists care about the truth, Scientists really want a cure, a find, etc. and it goes on. Since this election I have come to really believe that most of these people are in the game for the Power, Money, Fame, Ratings and Name.

I don't think you are missing anything and as someone above stated Obama does still have to prove himself. I believe he will. I believe he is... but there is a growing (and your right very dangerous) thought process growing in this country that I fear more than most things I have ever been afraid of. There is an underbelly of extreme Racism,Hate, and Media Terrorism (Limbaugh,Beck,Hannity) people BELIEVE these nuts. The Good Old Boys club is growing and since I live in a state full of them I can tell you that it is frightening.
The other night driving across town I was screamed at by a couple of ignorant low information not old enough to vote yet kids. They saw my Obama/Biden bumper sticker. "Obama s**ks! Obama is a n*gger commie, You are a n*gger lover!" These fools actually followed me up the hill to my turn off.
What do you think? Don't you suppose that there is a large faction of this cr*p in the USA? It isn't as though it frightened me because it didn't. But it sickened me in my heart.

As far as discussion of policy/ideas/actions...I find it difficult to find a place to hear about those things without a Media Brain telling me what he/she thinks is right/wrong about it. I have come to think that the true Brains of this country are really Media Pundits and we would all be so much better off if they all ran for office. They know such an incredible amount of information and the way things should be done that I think we have been barking up the wrong tree for more than two hundred years, we should be voting for Matthews, Beck, Maddow, and Brokaw. Damn! We missed that boat!

The best "Rethink Reform" ad yet has to be the retired (I hope!) female doctor with the library background,Haute Couture hair, and expensive clothes telling me why I shouldn't have Health Insurance because it may cost her (obviously well retired, social security/medicare arse,) a penny or two. Now why on earth would these people NOT want me to have Health Insurance??? Why???

No BWA you aren't missing a thing. There are just a lot of people who don't like 'different' and don't want change if it means change for their wallets, don't want everyone to be treated equally. I think the better the Obamas look the more the Nay-Sayers get their knickers knotted up.

The Conservative Right is working overtime to make sure that this Presidency does not succeed. He is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. In 2012 they will offer up their newest poster child probably that twit Jindal with a running mate picked by Limbaugh.

This country is in the middle of a War instigated by Extremism,Journalism, and Television. Hope they sell their papers and get their ratings at our expense.
