I decided a couple years ago that this was a crazy thing for me to do myself. And hiring it done for a couple strands of lights seems wasteful so I just put my tree in a window now. Do you put up outside decorations?
No, I'm married to the ultimate scrooge when it comes to decorating. So I enjoy all of the neighbors decorations. People usually start during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend here. If we're going to be home for Christmas - like this year - then I do the inside.

I don't put up outside decorations because I am too far from the road and no one will see them so there is no point to it.
We also put our tree in the window. No more putting decorations outside.
Right now I have Thanksgiving decorations out. But the first week of December out goes all of the Christmas decorations.
I have a tiny wreath that hangs in my peek hole in the door all year long. A gift from a friend one year and it is all bells. I like to see and hear those little bells. I do not hang stuff outside as I refuse the ladder bit twice a year. I can't find any one of my three trees and just know one of my organized kids put it in the crawl space over the garage and I will NEVER go up there. I put out a few ornaments and that is the whole gist of Christmas for me. I love other peoples stuff and I don't have to store it.
