Vice President Joe Biden spoke for 35 minutes Monday at a fundraiser luncheon for first-term Democratic Congressmen Martin Heinrich and Harry Teague at the Hotel Albuquerque, according to a print pool account distributed by the White House.
Biden told about 100 people who paid $1,000 apiece to attend the luncheon that Heinrich and Teague were gutsy, independent voices who are helping the nation to recover from a serious economic recession.

Biden predicted Republicans will mount a serious effort to unseat Heinrich and Teague, who will both be up for re-election in November 2010. Biden said both representatives are fighting to better the lives of middle-class families, and contrasted that with Republican members of Congress who he described as believers in Wall Street.
