Coupons

In case anyone didn't know, there is a website called couponmom.com . In addition to many printable coupons they have other tools. One is a state by state guide to the most popular stores and tell you what is on sale and if there is a coupon and the percentage of savings!

I have saved all my receipts and put all the info on an Excel spreadsheet and have found that I saved almost 25% since the beginning of the year. Many times with coupons and specials combined I get free stuff!

My daughter and I use coupons all the time---one of the best ways to save. Last time we went grocery shopping, she saved $109 in coupons alone. Now I must say we shop for groceries about evey 2 1/2 months, so we spent a lot, but still it was way worth the time to have clipped those coupons in the first place.

I have found that coupons are a great help when buying brand-name items (hair color, Q-tips, Toothpaste come to mind). However, for many other items, the store brand (items that you find have equal quality) is cheaper than the brand name, even using a coupon!! You have to check it all to make sure you are saving money. Most brand names are greatly overpriced. They have to pay for all that advertising.

I stopped clipping coupons for three basic reasons:
~because the supermarket I usually shop at has "clipless" coupons plus
~there was too much build up of papers because usually the huge Sunday paper was where we got coupons from. If I find them elsewhere and feel I can really use them, I'll clip them.
~I started buying store brands for most things and most others we get from Costco where they don't take coupons.
I did find them helpful though when I used to use them, especially on double and triple coupon days.

I went to the site and printed out some coupons. That was a helpful site. I'm wondering if I'll have a problem with cashing them in. There is no barcode.
