James Patterson

I have found his books page turning and interesting. I recently picked up 3 of his books. Have read 1 1/2 of them and already sad that I will be finished with them by this weekend. Love reading through the twist and turns to the mystery.

I felt that way about Patterson's books when I first started reading him, but am now at the point where I don't enjoy them so have stopped reading them. I'm glad you're still at that enjoying place, though. :D

Since he has co-authors now, I don't think his books are so good. That's just my opinion, of course. Does anyone else feel the same way?

You can definitely tell when he has certain co-authors because the book has a different feel and often isn't as good as what he wrote on his own. I still read him with varied opinions and feelings - I do think he's stopped being an author and has instead become an industry.....

Good way to put it, "an industry..." I'll drink to that.

Yes, very well put, dkortsch. I keep reading his books, hoping they'll be like the earlier ones, but keep getting disappointed.

I like 90% of his books, and even the ones that are not so good are certainly readable. And sometimes he does a very good one. "Alex Cross's trial" I thought was very good. Different from his usual.

Just finished "Cross's Trial" a few minutes ago. If you like books where you fly through pages and get a stereo-typical turn of the century Southern segregation, discrimination, lynching, and Klu, Klux, Klan story, this is a good as any other but don't mistake it with "Gone With Wind" or "To Kill a Mockingbird." The characters are shallow, the plot is straightforward and little time is wasted on background. The whole story comes out of central casting and condensed to fit in 140 three paragraph chapters spread thin on 380 pages. Patterson has created a story factory and just churns them out one after another as co-authors submit their manuscripts to him. I understand he has signed a contract to produce about 18 or so of these McBooks per year.

Just finished Cross's Trial too. I though it was a lot different than his other Cross books. I really liked it alot. I think his books that he does alone are better than the ones with a co-author, but even those still hold my attention! Good easy reads. I'm waiting now for I Alex Cross.
