I agree! Years back when I first learned Yoga I also learned Yoga is much more than just the 'Asnas'.
From what I've observed with many instructors, others seem to be missing the main point and are only focusing on the physical aspect of Yoga, which has become very popular.
I find the 'Spiritual' and overall 'Yogic Attitude' way of life very refreshing and whole.
Many years ago I first began, by watching and learning from Kathleen Hitchcock on her television program.
Have you ever heard of her? She was an instructor, who taught all aspects of Yoga.
This also was my first touch with the reality of red blood meat and elimination of meat in my diet.
I still do eat some meat, but have totally eliminated all red blood meat from my eating.. and my husbands.
Kathleen taught that 'red blood meat is considered 'putrified flesh'.. as it begins to decay the moment the animal is slaughtered for food and continues right to the time you eat it.
I am still working on eliminating poultry and fish but am very awkward in balancing my proteins and actually cooking vegetarian.
Yoga basically is a synthesis of day to day life.
Yogic Aasnas are physical exercises to bring in
a rhythm in our internal system. Meditations is an
exercise to the mental faculties to streamline the
thought processes and bring in tranquility in the
ever volatile and mercurial Mind. Although there
are no diet restrictions in practice of yoga. As far
as possible, fat, carbohydrates, too much of salt
and spicy food is avoided to keep the internal system
under control. Basically, Blood pressure, Blood sugar
cholesterol and other related symptoms to be
physically fit.
