Our next GROUP READS..

Photobucket

Next month, December, is our "vacation" month from Group Reads, but we do have some work to do. It's time to submit titles for our next round of Group Reads. The plan is this: Submit several titles that you would like us to read and discuss as a group. Be sure to include titles in different genres, ie Fiction, non-Fiction, Mystery, etc. Submit your titles here, in this thread, which I'm going to "stick". You may submit titles until December 1. At that time, I and my trusty assistant (husband) will number the titles and make some selections based on which number gets called.... sounds goofy but it seems to work well.

The plan is that we'll then have our Group Reads selected starting January through June. IF we have an unusually large number of titles selected, we might carry them through past June, we'll see.

So, search your brains, and throw out some titles you'd like to see as Group Reads. And have fun! Photobucket

rotflmao, bopeep, Tom has been known to occasionally take a bribe... :x

Yeah, I thought it might be fun to post the titles here instead of PMing them, that way we wouldn't get duplicates, which HAS happened in the past. Also, bwahahaha, if somebody submits an title and it makes the cut and then they don't read/discuss it, I can send them some cement boots. ; - ) Just kidding, just kidding..................

And rapa, I just finished Kindred in Death and had nightmares every night almost, that I read it. But I liked it a lot.

Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. It's non-fiction and very interesting outlook on success. I've enjoyed all 3 of his books, and looking forward to reading the new one.

I'm currently listening to Shanghai Girls and love it!!

I'm going to start out with Her Fearful Symmetry which is, I don't know what... it's fiction and mysterious but not really a mystery. It also has a good chance of falling into the same category as the Edgar Sawtelle book did, ie you either love it or hate it....

Ok, here are some of my picks - I reserve the right to add more should they pop into this feeble brain:

She Walks These Hills Sharyn McCrumb
Bleeding Kansas Sara Paretsky
In the Electric Mist With Confederate Dead James Lee Burke
Jungle Jack: My Wild Life and
Monkeys on the Freeway both of these are by Jack Hanna (the zoo guy)

Tell Tom I'll send him a case of Little Debbie snackcakes (they make them here)if he DOESN'T pick Shakespeare!

Glad to see that some others I would have mentioned have already made the list!

rotflmao, bopeep, I'll pass that on to Tom. :x

I was thinking that it would be helpful, too, if when we submit titles, we also tell what genre they are. And, everybody can keep adding more and more titles here, don't have to stop with one post. :D
