Old art work

OK, I have to admit, I've been out of pocket for quite some time as far as my art goes. I'm just in a slump and can't seem to get out of it. So what I'm going to do for awhile is begin re-posting some of my old pieces. Maybe this will get me back on the band wagon!

Morning Rose..I finally started sketching my grandchildren so hopefully I can do an oil of them. Very bold for me since I have never done this or had lessons. The skethes are going pretty good..I don't know if I can get a good enough photo to post before I paint. I am taking time on sketching trying so this will take a goos amount of time. Good luck with getting out of slump..maybe do a Holiday tree just a suggestion...

Hi Kathy, glad to see you're sketching and trying the oil painting of a portrait. I never had lessons either! Just dove in and played!! And I was surprised at how well I could do! You will be surprised!! Each one you do you will learn something new from!!
I'm hoping to get out of my slump. A Holiday tree wouldn't be my thing though. I don't have kids or grand kids so I never really get in the Christmas spirit.

Rose, your work is so impressive that I go to your profile once in a while just to look at them all. Looking forward to your posts. And your messages here.

How about switching to another form of art than drawing and painting. Get a wheel and throw some pots. Redorate a room. Plan a garden. Same-ol'-same-ol' becomes boring for me and I've gotta make the rounds. Then drawing and painting becomes new and exciting again.

The thing that has been cathartic for me this fall has been that I rearranged my studio into a much more workable space. Doing this has allowed me to get back into the creative swing of making jewelry again. I haven't painted in a long time, so I know how you feel.

Like you, Rose, I have been in a slump. I have been trying to write again and it feels like I can't think anymore. I started a portrait last week. I had to force myself to do it, but it was amazing how therapeutic and energizing it was to be drawing again.

Bill....I don't have that kind of energy you do!!! I sure wish I did!!!
Good idea Ladyartist! That just might work!
Debbie, we need to give one another a good spanking!!! I have a pastel half finished on my easel that I haven't touched in several months!!!

A skunk sat on a slump. The slump said the skunk stunk, the skunk said th slump stunk.
Say that 3 times real fast.

And try this one Richard:
How much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

Rose, I'm going to answer that question on behalf of my good buddy Dick.

There are three ways that wood can be chucked. You can throw it; you can put it in a chuck (restraining device), or you can sculpt a guy named Chuck out of wood. So if a woodchuck could chuck would it would either have a good enough throwing arm to throw a chunk of wood in the air; or be sufficiently woodshop-trained to position, for instance, a two-by-four so that it can be chucked, and then tighten the chuck; or sufficient dexterity with wood chisels and rasps, and sufficient skill with portraiture, to enable the rendering of, say, Chuck Woolery in wood. (Were the woodchuck a beaver he could use his teeth; come to think of it, let's mutate this woodchuck's teeth--no, that's cruel and unusual. He would be a laughing-stock.)

In the real world, the best a trained woodchuck could do, to chuck wood, would be to toss ping-pong sized wooden spheres at will. His throwing arm would probably get tired after ten pounds' worth or so. So the answer is ten pounds per chuck-session.

Thank you--thank you--no applause; just throw money.
