Toilet Paper

We bought Quilted Northern toilet paper on our last shopping trip. Came home and stacked it up next to what was in the cupboard and found the rolls were 1/2" narrower than they used to be. We need a grass roots movement (no pun intended) to let the manufacturers know we don't approve! Buy other brands and bring your tape measure to the store and check!

Who's with me?

We use Angel Soft and see the same thing happening, even with the double rolls. Can remember my mother-in-law commenting that regular toilet paper rolls used to be so large they would hardly fit in the dispenser but those days are long gone. Now it is the toilet paper that's long gone, almost as soon as the package is opened.

I think toilet paper is the hardest darn thing to buy. I stand there pondering which is the best buy and it just gets so confusing. I normally stick with the store brand because I figure it is the best buy and it is satisfactory, altho sometimes a sale and a coupon makes a brand name a better deal. So complicated!

I read the package and buy the one where each roll has the most sheets - same with paper towels.

keep watching for the "sheets per roll" info---it's most likely the same count but the actual "length" of the sheet is most likely decreasing...

The same thing is true with tissues--the box is the same size, there's the same number of sheets, but they're looser in the box because they've been trimmed. Why can't manufacturers just be honest about what they're doing? Obviously we're noticing, it's not like they're actually getting by unobserved.

I hate buying toilet paper it is either too expensive or too cheap. The best deals I have found are at stores such as Menards or Woodman's. The least economical places to buy toilet paper are at the Dollar Stores.

I think it is a no win situation. The makers are going to get us no matter what and who's going to not use the stuff.

Question is... just how wide is your butt? Is a half inch going to matter all that much?

I get your point... everything is shrinking in size or weight! Just another example here.

Well, we're not all the way back to corn husks yet, or the Sears catalog, which no longer exists. I remember using them as a kid growing up in Ohio, as well as pit toilets and chamber pots.

So where are the cheapest deals? I've never heard of Menards or Woodman's. I've been known to buy in bulk at Sam's Club or Costco, but some brands there are not that much cheaper.
