Does Your House Feel Kinda Small?

Photobucket

A couple of ideas to make it feel bigger.

I really like that. Would you really use it?

And how about this washer/dryer combo? Really cuts down on the space needed for these appliances.

But does it fold the clothes and put them away as well? Now THAT'S an appliance we could use.

I love the space saving aspect of those combo washer dryers.. but they're really expensive and I understand they take forEVER to wash and then thoroughly dry even a small load.

I have a tiny galley kitchen with a full size range, fridge *and* super large capacity stack washer and dryer. Most people don't even notice the washer/dryer probably because everything in the room... appliances, floor, cabinets and walls... are white! Makes the room look bigger and makes all those big appliances just kind of disappear into the walls (I accent with lots of black and red... I do like color.)

However, I don't have a dishwasher. Don't want one, don't need one. Washing dishes is meditative and I like having the extra cabinet space.

I have heard the same thing about the washer/dry combo. Small loads and takes repeated drying cycles to dry garments. I looked at one for our house. Would wash more clothes but the dryer just didn't do it's job.

By the way also looked into getting one for the RV-same problem.

Maybe in a few years when they have the kinks worked out, they will work great.

My house is huge. Maybe by the time I get to downsize and live in a smaller, more manageable space, they will have the kinks worked out of them. I do like the drying rack: it looks so old fashioned!

My concern is what happens if the washer gives out but the dryer still works? While I like the versatility of things that will do more than one thing, for appliances I prefer single use. In my experience, these washer/dryer combos are not satisfactory.

LoveToSing: I LOVE your idea -- NO dishwasher. We have gone thru THREE in 22 years and I think when this one "goes", that will be it. I, too, could use the extra cabinet space. How perfect -- NEVER thought of it -- just assumed the dishwasher was mandatory ! ! ! LOL . . . I agree meditative and I don't even mind doing them at 2 in the morning. Thanks

I didn't have a dishwasher for years in Ohio but since I've moved to Georgia with my daughter I've come to appreciate the dishwasher. Mainly because standing to wash dishes gets painful on my knees. I'm looking for some kind of stool.

I liked the arrangement my sister-in-law in PA had - A washer and dryer behind folding doors at one end of her kitchen. My daughter had that arrangement too in the apartment she had before she bought this house. Now we have a tiny laundry room which is ok except I wish there was some kind of sink in there.
