Hi --- Sorry to rain on your parade, but I really feel that changing the GROUP'S ICON to that new picture promotes and encourages commercializm........Posting group pictures may be one thing, but the ICON ??.... Commercializm is just not what EONS is all about...... You might want to reconsider.........
I think this might be a good question to pose in the Managers and Moderators group.Eons has groups here that promote authors that are also members of Eons all the time, and even set up a "meet the Authors"chats now and then and promote those authors who are going to be available for these chats in most of the book groups. So I dont see how changing a group icon really promotes comercialism.
Oh, dear, I didn't mean to do anything wrong....would you ask in M&M, Lori? I just thought it might be a way to encourage more of our group to be active. Are others actively opposed?
Commercial Content and Free Goods
Eons may in its sole discretion allow the posting of Member Content that contains a link to free goods or services, but such posting is confined to Eons Groups (as defined below) that are designated as “Freebie” Groups. If you wish to promote a commercial offer on the website, please contact Eons’ advertising sales department at SalesInfo@eons.com.
I see no commercial 'link' offer by using a book/any book cover. JMO
I am not opposed to using author's books in the group icon.
Me neither...not that I visit my home page very often. ;^)
All I can say it that I was thrilled to see my cover for A REAL BASKET CASE shown in my group listing for MM&M! And, I can't wait for TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET's appearance.
My books are readily available in libraries, so you don't need to buy a copy to read them. I encourage folks who cannot or prefer not to buy a hardcover book to check them out of their local libraries (or request one on inter-library loan if your library doesn't have copies). That way the books are circulated more and the libraries feel their investment was worthwhile. As long as we don't post "buy" links for books here, I don't see how discussion of group members' books and posting photos of the covers is commercial in any way. Reading them doesn't require buying them.
Thank you Beth.I think AuthorBeth is right,we are not trying to sell anything here, nor are we supplying any links that lead to where you can buy these books. And as Beth says you can find most books written by her and the other Authors at most libraries. The only thing we are doing here is honoring our Eons Authors, after all they are our friends and members of this group to.
I'm new here, and this discussion helped me a lot--I didn't realize that AuthorBeth wrote "A Real Basket Case", or I would've taken it out of the library when I happened to see it the other day! (I am so new, I didn't even realize where to find the icon!!!) Thanks, everyone, for a stimulating conversation!
Well, I hope you check out my book now, Ms. Handmaiden, and enjoy reading it! Then there's the sequel, To Hell In A Handbasket. ;-)
