I'm not so sure it is the seniors leaving in droves but rather the young people who can't find jobs. My county, Flagler, has unemployment over 15%.
I would not want to be anywhere else in the winter but get me out of here in the hot muggy summer!

I agree with that! Unfortunately, I have too much property here and can't afford any any place else.

You'll never get me to leave in the winter...but it's back to Illinois during the hot summers. LB
I always think about it, but haven't done it yet. I heard that more people are leaving Florida than moving here. I say it's about time.
Hello y'all. I came here over fifty years ago 'cause I couldn't stand the penetrating cold in my native
New Jersey any longer. Most of those who originally came here for Sun N Fun on the shoreline of
the state found it is a little thin in substance. Ir's only since I retired that I find more things to do and
been relagated into the Late Bloomer ranks. Anybody want to join me (or, should I say us) in things
like the Senior Games ? Florida was the first to have them, you know.
I don't blame those who don't have a firm financial basis, youth and all, for looking elsewhere.
Even those with a degree in some nebulous subject will find that the same old rule srill applies. If the thing you want to support you later on in life is something you got easily then you picked the wrong one.
After having lived in the frozen tundra (Connecticut) for eight years, I'm one who'll never leave Florida again, unless it's to go someplace even warmer. LB--my experience with Illinois is that it's even hotter in the summers than it is here in Florida.
