My childhood was void of any traditions except Christmas which lasted all of about 1/2 an hour then back to the usual! First birthday cake I ever had was when I turned 30 and my ex hubby threw a party for me...it touched me to my core!
Sorry didnt think first posted!
We're piling us and the dog into a rented van and heading home to Illinois this coming Friday. First time I've been home for Thanksgiving in 4 years, and the first time my son has been there in about 12 years! And this is the first time his lady (hopefully, soon his wife)will meet most of the family. And the first time she's been to Chi-town. So it ought to be fun. My granddaughter will be home from Ft. Bragg (her hubby is deployed), and everyone will be in one place. Doesn't happen often. I'll get to give my daughter some help cleaning and decorating and cooking. She'll like that. When my son goes home on Saturday, I'll stay on. I've got a Christmas concert to attend....#4 granddaughter is singing and dancing in it. Maybe stay til Christmas; I haven't decided that yet. But I'll do some shopping and baking with granddaughters 1,2, and 3. I love that they're young women. Now we talk woman-to-woman. It's great. We're good friends. This Family Matriarch thing is pretty cool!

My daughter is coming into town since I couldnt get off work and we are going out to dinner (Clydes services Turkey Dinner)and she stays for the weekend. Invited Mary to come with us if she doesnt go out of the country.
I am headed from MD to CA to see my children and grandbaby. While there I am going to be seeing a former roommate and a friend from HS that I haven't seen since we graduated 37 years ago! I leave next Sunday. I can't wait.
My son and I will have TG in Miami with my daughter's family, husband and grandchildren. My daughter will cook the Turkey and I'll do the rest! I'm looking forward to it!
this year, my mom chose to go into asisted living. Its hard for her to be anywhere but there for any length of time, so I will be having dinner with her there. Since my husbband died, my mom dosent want to have the dinners at my house anymore...It was usually just the four of us and now with just 3 or maybe 2, until she goes, I guess I wont be cooking and doing anymore.
