(Shhh, I have the ads turned off). Since Eons isn't a dating website, I guess I'm not surprised they are advertising. I did have a profile on POF once, met one local person and we saw each other for awhile. You have to be really selective, I think, with any dating site, and really proactive for any of them to work. And true, there are plenty of fish you can throw back!

oh okay, I won't say a word lynaz! lol
I first heard about POF on a flight back to Juneau from Seattle. Two local women who were sitting in my row, told me they had just spent the weekend with guys they had met on POF and had a great time.
I checked the site out (it really is free), but wasn't expecting much. Unless they live in Juneau, distance is going to be a factor. I had a gentleman from Anchorage and another from the Bering Strait (between Sarah Palin's breakfast window and Russia) writing to me. I withdrew from the site as I had met someone from Seattle area on Eons that I became involved with.
Internet dating sites seem to work better when you can meet for coffee or lunch without incurring $1500 in travel expense to accomplish. LOL
I so agree Lady! $1500 is quite a bit to spend to meet someone for lunch...lol
I also used POF for a couple of months but didn't find someone interesting (I'm very picky LOL ) so I canceled my account!
I've been gone for a few days & haven't seen that ad here on EONS. But I'm familiar with that dating site. I tried it a long time ago with no luck. Wouldn't rule out trying it again some day.
I'm on POF but haven't had any luck meeting anyone. There have been some local get together that they've sponsored but they seem to be a much younger group.
I am a afraid I am dubious of all dating sites, sorry if this has already been discussed on here, but I have joined and few and left them all. The best one I was ever on was an American one, no one wanted to get me on IM or get too explicit. Trouble is I am too far away. I find there is too much left to chance with dating sites, the number of men I have talked to and then after a while realise, hello he's married.
lostinatlanta...this morning I saw a discussion in a group for managers about ads here on EONS. Apparently EONS is allowing the advertising by trying to focus the appropriate ads in the groups based on who/what the group is about. Thus, a dating site showing up here in a singles group. I guess I don't really have a problem with it. This site is free to those of us using it & they have to make their money some way - advertising dollars is a good way. So, if it will keep the EONS site free for us to use & enjoy I can tolerate seeing some ads. I just don't like the ones that start talking to me when I open my group up! But, it allows you to silence the noise.
I don't have a problem with advertising dating sites. I've been on POF for a couple years. I had a couple guys thta I dated a few times. The thing I like about it, is if you post a nude picture you're outta there. I hate the sites that want you to show skin. If I want to do that, it'll be my decision, not a requirement;)
