As we age so does our hair. How has yours changed? What do you do to your hair at this point? I had long hair when I was young, cut it when I was in my mid 30s and it stayed that way until the day Skip left. Then I let it grow and I love it. Recently I have washed my hair and let it just dry. Takes hours but when it does it is wavy which I never liked. So to keep the wave away I've always rolled or used a flat iron. I will repeat my question. What do you do to your hair at this stage of your life?
My hair is thinning, I always had baby fine hair. I keep it long because I can do more with it. Never could handle the blow dry styles, wish I could! Lately I "hate" my hair, but I donnt know what to do with it!
My hair is fine but I have lots of it. I color it with a dark blonde with a small mix of light brown. I've never bleached it. Sad to say so much gray that I didn't need to. But going blonde has certainly made my hair maintenance easy. Mama had beautiful silver hair but mine is not so therefore I am not going to be gray. Period, well that is until I get to old to color it. What is it about your hair you don't like? Color? Style? length?
I change all the time. I stay in the blonde family or even toward white which my natural hair is heading. I agree longer hair is much easier. I am/was a licensed hairdresser and we were taught to encourage ladies to go short, of course it was easier on us but I believed it made me look younger until I had my daughter at 35 and started to let mine grow. I am now a baby blonde and keeping it back with a hair band and just brushing it keeping it healthy and letting it grow. It is soft right now and I will see..Pam as a hairdresser I always encouraged ladies to let their hair grow even if it was against the rules..LOL And if your hair is naturally curly or wavy, embrace it and keep it healthy by brushing. Lep if your hair is thinner, just keep brushing and treat it good sometimes we get very thin and there isn't much we can do about it and I used to feel really bad for those ladies but there is hair clubs now to help them too. No matter what, brush your hair, scalp and use good shampoo and conditioner...always..hair is still crowning glory..
I stopped coloring or bleaching my hair in my mid forties. I have been going grey since my thirties. I had an aunt who was completely white in her thirties. Guess I inherited a lot of her genes.
I keep it short. Had one brief period when I let it grow really long and wore it in a braid, but nobody liked it, not even me. So I chopped it all off and now, like Popeye, I yam what I yam.
I have asked my various husbands and lovers over the years should I dye my hair? and to a man they have all said NO, they loved my hair. OK. Makes it easy for me. haha. Even had a guy stop me in the supermarket here last year and say he liked my hair, and then he walked away. Very surreal encounter.
So white it stays, and sort of blow dried a little bit, and that's it. I like simple.
I have always been blond since I was a towhead since birth. (what does towhead mean anyways? how does that connect with snow white hair?)
It has been super thick, straight and very, very long and lots of it since I became pregnant the first time. I am 53 and it is still super thick but gave up the length a few yrs ago. I love my short sassy hair. I do nothing to it but run my fingers thru it and wala, done!
My hair is baby fine and soft. I did had shoulder lenght a a young age. But, I'm one of those who can't do hair. My sister did hair as a child. Our hair comes very curly, the softer it is the humidity will turn it to a cute afro before afros came in style.. It wasn't the longer ones because it was very fine, therefore, it would went limped. no body at all.
Before the relaxer, which I was unable to take, because of the txtureas many blacks, it had to be hot comb. yes OUCH, I also haded to rolled my hair, OUCH! I had to roll it thirty min before I got dressed and brushed Brushed, I like my hair as if it had been done days ago.
I've had it dyed, weaved all which took my hair out and must cut it short to grow again.
At this moment, it's rapidly turning salt and pepper. At first it was all around the edges. Now, I can see it's mingling. I shampoo, condition, and keep it cut . All needed is a little gel, very little Natural gel. Oh yes, wigs, dyes and weaves will tmake you get gray even if it's not a gene thing. With most African American.
It is cute and yes, males seems to like your hair natural. the ones I've came in contacted with even the three sons will let me know.
My hair is pretty fine. But Its natural curly and can become ringlets around the coast or in any moisture. In the 80'and 90's I wore it curly and very long, but with short layers. While in school I cut in into the Haily Berry short cut. It was ok, but I was glad to let it grow again. Now I am growing it out even longer and gray is coming in alot. I like the gray and won't dye it. but I usually soften it with a large curling iron. I am not a straight hair woman, I need some waves.
I have very fine, straight blonde hair. I have worn it shoulder-length for years. Now, it is layered, long and very straight. People seem to like it, too, as I frequently get compliments. The best part is it only takes me about 5 minutes, or less, to "fix" it in the morning.
My hair used to be down to my tush, very thick, and only a hint of a wave. Now that it's shoulder length and layered, with the grays covered for now, it's nearly curly! Never had that before! It's still fairly thick, brunette mixed with red or auburn or something like that. Grows like the dickens, though. I often resemble our dog!
My Hair--a nightmare!! For many years, people would make reference to me by the way I maintained my hair. I began to gray in my early 30's, used a rinse up until a few months ago. I must --and very soon---find a way to put regular hair salon visits back into my schedule. I believe my my overall spirit would be better if I maintained my hair in an attractive way!
