Science will always mesh with spiritual beliefs and phenomenon. Has to be.
Interesting... many scientists deny the spiritual and are closed to "phenomenon". Yet, they certainly are intelligent, in a certain way. Being able to access the mystical is not something they seem to attempt, even to ridicule. Concrete evidence is more their thing. Yet the unseen, the unheard, the unknown, that is experienced by those who are in touch with the unknown realm is vastly superior to "science". I am not sure intelligence has anything to do with it as much as being open to the unknown, to accepting there is more that eye can see, than ear can hear, that "so called reality" has experienced.
Astrology, the map of a person at birth, is a good indicator of psychic abilities. The age of the soul of the being, certainly the older souls who are open to the universe, also adds to the ability. Life is not without purpose, without meaning, without direction. There is so much here, in this realm, that is for teaching, for learning, for understanding. Mankind, the major percentage, is just an infant at yet.

AN interesting video. If intelligence could be described as a sharper ability to perceive, then use information to solve problems, better retention of information, coupled with some formal education, then prediction of a sort is part and parcel of it -- pulling together information one has gathered and synthesizing it to predict outcomes as well as just solve problems at hand.
Probably not the best example I can give, but one that comes readily to mind was in 2005 when my son told me he intended to buy a house that year. "Hold off for a year and a half or two. Because you are going to see foreclosures all over the country and many, more in Florida than ever before. There will be wholesale foreclosures all over the country and the housing market and prices will collapse." Did I use my 'psychic powers' to make that prediction? [On Wall Street I coulda made a bundle]. No. Having been in the real estate industry for a couple of decades, knowing that 46% of all single family homes were being sold with ARM mortgages, that rates were at historic lows and in 24 months most would increase a couple of points or double from 4% to 8% -- knowing that people buy to the max what their income will support -- I knew there would soon people that were signing up on those ARM's would find their house payments doubled and be unable to meet those payment.
To make that prediction in 2005 didn't require any extraordinary psychic powers, just using what I knew about people and their tendency when buying homes, taking on mortgage indebtedness and how they budgeted, the limits on most people's take home pay, unable to escalate as fast as a few points in mortgage interest would increase their payments.
Too much formal scientific information can limit the inquiry, though, especially if one expect to find the proofs of everything in solid matter like synapses and cells of the cerebellum. For not everything is reposited there, not every function of the brain is palpable. And there is the distinct possibility that our brain doesn't run everything, after all. That there is an invisible, indistinguishable essence that permeates us -- a soul and that soul just may have a knowledge base all its own that can drive the brain at times, too. There just may be an undiscovered 'intelligence' that we all have that the scientists haven't discovered yet, as thorough as they can be checking out the lobes and all the different parts of the physical brain.
A friend of mine was having an ongoing battle with her willful 5-year old daughter one day. The discussion became increasingly heated until finally the little girl said "I wish I'd never come down to you and dad. I want to go back." When my friend asked her what she meant, she went on to say how she was looking down on them at a party in the park, all the people, my friend in a long white dress. That was her wedding party, the reception held at a nearby park. "Oh, and then what?' My friend asked. "I decided then I would come down to be with you and dad. Now, I wish I never had."
That wedding was held six and a half years before the child was born. There were no pictures of the wedding party. No discussions ever my friend swore between her and her husband of that reception that the child could have overheard. How did she know? What would prompt her to say, "I decided to come down to be with you and dad." Where was she 'overhead', observing?
There are more things in heaven and earth than dreamed of...still.
GG, you seem to get what I was hinting at. Einstein always said that he simply observed (paid attention) to nature and predicted.
I get what you're saying where the soul is concerned, but before even getting to the soul level, I believe that our brains, in combination with a little thing called 'connective tissue' as its antennae, are able to pick up on 'information' that rides on wave patterns: sound waves, light waves, pressure waves, magnetic waves, electrical waves, thermal waves, etc. "Information" that regulates biological systems for example. Or 'information' related to events in 'time'. Not dissimilar to how we programmers used to program 'information' within computers that gets transported via wires and now wireless. Thanks to the connective tissue system of the body, combined with the nervous system and the brain, our bodies are super semi-conductors or super computers.
The more I study this stuff and the more I commune with science, the more I believe we are close to understanding the beauty of being human.
I love hearing the things that children will say, especially around that age. It's often eye opening indeed!
I look forward to the day when most of the people on the planet realize that science and the spiritual are not meant to be enemies :) Say, GG ... would it be wise to plan to purchase a home during the next year? If I get my butt in gear, I may find myself in a position to do so ... what do you think the market is going to do now?
Oh hey ladies ... Google Wave is available now in beta ... check it out!
BIB: I, too, have that dream ... the day when spirituality and science reach mass consciousness. I think it only takes 3% to get the ball rolling? Anybody remember the exact name for this and percentage?
Here's a link
view linkIt's a great new app where you can create "waves" and do all kinds of things ... many people can be typing messages (called waves) at the same time, and you can read what they are typing as they type it. You can add replies in the midst of a discussion, if you want to reply to a specific point ... edit waves posted by others, and others will be able to tell who did the editing. Lots of other features, too ... a whole new way for collaborating with others online.
That is SO COOL! Thanks for bringing it up. I'm actually watching the hour-plus video of their first demo of the product. Dang! Email the way it SHOULD be! :)
