Hells bells, Peacesong, don't you get it? If they don't treat us, we will die, freeing up our SS retirement and Medicare for someone else, maybe an illegal. Oops that isn't politically correct. Undocumented would have been better.
don't even get me started !!!! GRRRRR
Ordinarily I would agree with you guys, but I heard that older folks have built up an immunity to this particular bug over their lifetimes. According to everything I have heard, it's the kids under 18 who are the most at risk this time.
That being said, however, the seasonal flu is an entirely different virus. As far as I have heard, it follows the the usual patterns.
Perhaps I misunderstood. In that case, I'm certain someone will correct me.

i have seen/heard that too ragin cajun, but... do i believe it ???
Ragin and vulcan, it is called conditioning. Remember Pavlov and the dog. They get us used to being denied on something that doesn't mean much to us keep doing it enough till we are accepting of whatever they do to us.
about the so called built in immunity. My doctor told me that also but he also said there is no fact connected to that rumor. i think you could call this age discrimination on our governments part. i spent the better part of yesterday writing to everybody and anybody that i could think of. democrats, republicans, aarp, etc etc. doubt if it will do much good.
The swine flu bug in the Ukraine is not even the same strain as this h1n1 thing we are vaccinating for, and I would be more worried about that one coming here.
PHARMA & 0 profit from this one so we won't hear about the others around the world until it is too late.
I agree with u Rcajun that older folk might be immune to this and might have more complications from the vaccine itself then any protection in the shot.
Peacesong - have u tried other avenues to getting this shot? My parents got theirs at a Health Fair.

i wonder how many congressman that are over 65 got the shot. what do you think?
I was debating about this shot and had decided I didn't want to get it because the one time I got a flu shot in the past I got terribly sick. I had heard that for some reason, swine flu does not affect those over 65 as seriously as younger people. Maybe it is because they have built up immunities or something. I also heard, that Cholestorel meds like Lipitor keep people from getting a very severe case of swine flu.
At any rate, two weeks ago I got what I am pretty sure was a mild case of swine flu. The symptoms were similar to what I read on line. Headaches(which I usually never have), body aches(more than my usual arthritis), a dry cough and a slightly scratchy throat. No fevor though that may have been masked by the Tylenol Arthritis I take. It lasted about a week. So now I guess I don't need to worry about the vacine.
I agree that seniors are going to be more and more discriminated against but I think the swine flu vacine thing is more them having to give priority to those who are most likely to get the serious cases because the supply is limited. Also, elementary through college kids seem more likely to spread the disease.
Plus it is the seniors of this country who own the main wealth...with a death tax of 45% to go to O&co....why would they want u to stay alive?
