What Is Your Art

What is your art and why do you like it. What intrigues you most about the art work you do.

Why do you do it. When do you exhibit. Where do you store your art in your home or apartment.

How long have you been doing this art? Do you sell it or give it away? Are you getting ready to quit, or have you stopped.

If you could put your art in only one place...where would that one place be.

I write (poems and essays mostly), I draw, and I have recently gotten into photography... among other things.

The writing and drawing are things that I have always done. They relax me, and when I'm writing or drawing I have a tendency to lose complete track of time.

The photography is like Christmas morning for me EVERY time. I just can't wait to get home and download my "haul" so that I can see if I have any keepers.

I have never sold anything... never tried, although I have been told that I could do so. I use it mostly for my own pleasure, and the pleasure of my friends and family.

I don't think I'll be stopping any time soon.

Actually, I do keep it all in one place... my computer. Of course, I have copies on the net, and on jump drives, etc... to make sure nothing is lost, as has happened to me in the past. I do have a few things on hard copies as well.

I have done oil painting in the past, but haven't for a long time because of no place to keep it. However, now I have the time and the place to do it. I also make jewelry especially for people who have hand problems--muscle loss, arthritis, MS. A lot of people who don't have disabilities have bought my jewelry, and I have even received some commissions. Doing this satisfies my creativity and sense of design. I like photography, too, and have many pictures framed and placed on walls in my home.

I was known as cake lady at every school my kids were in ! Birthday cakes were my fav. Give me a picture and I'd draw it and put it on a cake. No copying pictures right onto the cake back then ! Made them for pleasure and sold them. Had a bakery in my home. Retired a few years ago. Now I make them only for family and friends.

My art is my songwriting and recording/arranging- and my poetry. It used to also include photography, but not in years - and I used to love to sketch, but I haven't done that in a long time either.

These are wonderful arts that have been described thus far. Looking forward to hearing more from other members!

I've painted in oils, and the highest compliment I ever got was, "Well, I'm not offended." Which was nice, especially considering the miserable mother's son who said it.

I'm a pretty good poet, and that's a verbal art form, right? I'm not a really good poet, just pretty good. There again, perhaps the most that could be said is, my stuff doesn't offend. With regard to poetry, that might be saying something.

As for having public readings of my work, I do that with my more literary friends when we get together for formal readings. On thinking about it, they don't read aloud their poetry, usually they drag out plays they've worked on over the previous year.

Next time we get together, I have a one-hour radio play I'm going to lay on them. (We generally meet in the wilds of Texas Hill Country for the better of a week, so we'll have time.) Was going to send it off to the BBC competition, but did my usual thing of procrastinating until it was too late.

mallard, if you have any pics of your art we would love to see them. Rc, the only things I write are poetry and essays (plus marketing and advertising and blabbing online).

Carol, cake would be just fine. Large piece. Anything but German chocolate.

Crindaguitar, we focus on what we do best. The music and vids I've listened to and seen are spectacular.

I used to frame my writing and sell it at performances. These were called "Wall Poems" and went for $35 - $65.
