“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Who cares what others think? Because others think and act small, shall we do the same? Who was given the power to steal our light?
"Playig small doesn't serve the world. Thee's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.....We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone."
"As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same."
"As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
If we approach life this way, we all will truly be Phenomenal Women, won't we?
Another thing--I am fearful about so many things, my health, my personal safety, being robbed, co-workers and others just outright lying because of envy, on and on. I used to read a lot of Marianne Williamson--that was before some very terrible things happened to me. I have become so fearful that I dont do much of anything other than just stay home, watch tv, some internet communication. I like people--but, I am fearful of people. My life has been totally disrupted by the actions of people.
I think this is one of the best quotes ever. It rings true for me, and I'm constantly working on letting go of irrational fears. Letting go of fears and resentments makes room for more love.
This is a wonderful quote! I needed to read it, too! Barb is right: we all need to let go of fears and resentments for they are roadblocks to being truly happy.
I hope that you reach inside, Genuinely and get in touch with the beautiful, powerful person you are. Reach out to positive women who inspire and encourage you. Don't let anyone rob you of the person you are -- the perfect person God created is still there. You are your own hero.
Seek out the positive, caring people in this world for there are many. You correspond with some here. If you reach out for a hand up, it will be there.
Fears bind us and give us nothing but limits to our lives. When we look at them in the light of day, they are empty. No one can defeat us -- but ourselves.
I think I'll take the opportunity to post the story of two women -- women who boasted most of the same genes -- a mother and daughter who looked so much alike -- but let entirely different lives. Only one major difference between them -- one lived in fear every day of her life. While the other refused to accept any fears and accomplished things of which she could only dream in her wildest dreams.
