Greetings to my fellow Southerners. I just joined the group today and thought I would start participating by submitting some of these favorite Southern expressions. I am a true born and bred Southern woman (smile). Let me hear some expressions from all of you...why Bless your hearts.

1. I'm fixin' to go shopping.
2. If the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise.
3. He/She told a "flat out" lie.
4. Well, I do declare.

2. She's sweatin' like a whore in church.
3. He's slower than molasses in January.
4. Child, I'm gonna knock you into next week!

1. Mean as a snake.
2. Sweet as sugar.
3. Mad as a wet settin' hen.
4. When the old dog barks, go and look.
5. That rooster carries on like he laid the egg.

Thanks Arky Girl and Kerry Cork. I had not heard the ones about "She's sweating like a whore in church", and "When the old dog barks, go and look". :-)
