Unfortunately we are all going to be victims of this subterfuge and it won't be obvious for a few years at which time as the article says, it will be impossible to reverse. Obamacare will change America, for the worse.

Even though the confession is there, there are still too many who will not believe it. Very sad!

Last night PBS aired this show which was very interesting and I am hopeful we can get health reform in our country soon.

Yes, more liberal propaganda from taxpayer funded PBS. Your tax dollars are work undermining our nation.

Our current semi-functional health care system is the result of government interference in the first place, particularly third-party payment of health care expenses, tax favoritism of employer supplied medical insurance as opposed to individually purchased insurance, State mandated health insurance coverage of politically favored services, inability to buy competitive health insurance across state lines, and under-reimbursement of medical expenses by Medicare and Medicaid which forces up the cost of private insurance coverage. The answer to problems caused by politicized health care is not to make the situation worse by mandating even more government control over health care.

Totally political. We do need reforms, but what Congress and Obama want to push on us goes beyond providing health care to those who need it. It is a power grab to lead us to a socialist state. Unfortunately, the lemmings who idolize him can't see it. Do we really want a one party system? We won't have any say if that happens.

TC, Help me with your argument list that our health care system is failing because of government interference. The first one on your list was 'third-party payment of health care expenses'. Not sure how the government is involved in my dealings with an insurance company to pay my medical cost for an agreed upon monthly insurance premium cost to me. I don't buy it as that is between me and the insurance company, no government required. I have the right to decide if I want health insurance coverage or not.

Part of the second item in your list, 'tax favoritism of employer supplied medical insurance'. If I recall this correctly, tax relief was granted to all companies to offer health benefits to employees so that employees of small companies could get health coverage. Consider it a psuedo first attempt at health care reform. Unfortunately, small and many medium size companies had to end this benefit because of ever increasing health care cost. Government interference or attempted government solution to the health care issue at the time it was created?

The other part of the second item in your list 'individually purchased insurance'. Is this going to be mandated as required by each individual (would involve government intererence) or voluntary by each individual to purchase health care insurance? And what happens to those individuals who show up to the ER in cardiac arrest and have no individual insurance? Too bad? Or do we treat them at the tax payors expense just like we do today? Doing so would require government interference.

Third and fourth in your list, State mandated health insurance coverage of politically favored services and inability to buy competitive health insurance across state lines. I happen to agree with this as it goes back to my argument that I have always made on this web site and that is we the people need to be controlling the dictates and directives of our government, not big business. And this argument points out big business favoritism.

The last argument on your list was 'under-reimbursement of medical expenses by Medicare and Medicaid which forces up the cost of private insurance coverage'. You seem to be advocating government interference here. Are you referring to reimbursement costs that medicaid and medicare are willing to cover? Should they be covering more and costing us tax payers more in the process. And how is that related to increased costs of profit minded private insurance. I have seen the argument in topics on this site of private insurance not having great profit margins and therefore cannot be accused of causing greater cost for health care. But the arguments I have seen only referred to the last couple of years. And as we all know the last couple of years have not been kind to investors which includes the insurance companies. Insurance investing is why we can pay a couple of hundred dollars in premiums a month and get tens of thousands in benefits a year. If someone wants to make the argument of why the poor private insurance companies aren't making a profit, do so based on a 20 year moving average of their last reported profit margins. And I bet it will not be a convincing argument.

I am not sure that everyone who so enthusiastically supports Obama care realizes that the only thing that this bill does for the next three years is raise taxes - since some of the taxes that will be raised will be on insurance companies and employees that supply good insurance plans - the net impact will be worse health care for almost all Americans. As the plan cuts in and becomes fully functional in 2013, the true cost and impact of this abortion will finally be realized by the people - of course it is skillfully fashioned to only rear its ugly head after the 2012 election. The only reason that there is a "rush" to pass this legislation is to start getting the shock of the higher taxes over before the presidential election year.

The best thing that could happen for improving health care right now would be to really reverse the loss of jobs - that, along with the security of this nation should be job #1 for this President, not new mandates that will insure that the country will drop into bankruptcy.
