ok, me first.... Oak Hill because that's my home town. Also when I came back home after being away for many years, my special town was even better than when I lived there! ... a Walmart (OMG) but even more impressive was the Shoney's!!!!!!!!!
I've only been to Charleston a couple times but it just has so much Charm. I love the Capitol building. the river always adds something also.
WHEELING that is where I grew up, Beckley is nice also.

I do like Wheeling. I grew up in Waynesburg Pa. There was a big dept store in Wheeling we used to go to??? They are a very progressive town and know for a place that has great fish sandwiches!!
Mom and I went to Beckley to shop - the store there was Montgomery Ward as well as a few others - I think a JC Penney across the street..????
Soooo many years ago.
Hey, what about Huntington - probably the easiest city in the world to get around in - streets vs avenues numbered - one way streets alternate.
If you get lost there, it's because you can't count! LOL
Although I live in Hurricane in Putnam County and love it, I have to say that my favorite town is probably Lewisburg. The reasons include a beautiful drive to it on I-64 from I-77 at Beckley (some of the prettiest country in West Virginia in my humble opinion). It has a quaint and attractive shop district in the old part of the town with some truly outstanding restaurants. It is a joy to walk through there on a spring or fall day and stop and get a coffee and look at life from a different perspective! And there is the General Lewis Inn where time simply stands still. (Also, we got some of the best chocolate-cherry bread at their farmer's market that we ever had.)
I'm of course partial to Charleston because I grew up there, but railfanjim is corrrect in naming Lewisburg as one of the most charming small towns around. Do they still have the State Fair in Lewisburg?
Mullens, its located in Wyoming county and it is close to where I grew up.but the reason I love it is the people, they are very friendly, they are willing to help anyone out, neighbors or strangers. Its a small town so everyone knows everbody. They just opened up some 4 wheeler trials there and if you are into that you should visit, the woods are beautiful. They are also a big sports town and have had many high school championships. Mike D'Antoni coack for the NY nicks is from there and also Christy Salters women boxing champion is also.
Yes Chessielee the state fair is still held in Lewisburg every aug.
