After having turkeys on our farm north of Sedro-Woolley when I was a kid, I wouldn't have the damn things any where near me on either side of the mountains.
I never had a life turkey. When I was growing up, I had chickens in the back yard and I know how to kill a chicken. You cut its throat, throw it in a big tub of hot water for 10 minutes or so. Then plug the feathers. Fresh chicken taste a lot better than frozen chicken. I also had a silk worm in a match box to carry to school.
Have you guys ever eaten wild turkey? It is delicious but as we had a hard winter last year
I have not seen many turkeys this year ( ones with feathers- that is ).Here in Minnesota deer hunting is still going on. It will be interesting when I move to see how the hunting seasons differ from back here.
Good Luck. Handsomeman

We had wild turkeys back in New York. Pretty tricky critters to hunt. They hang in heavy brush and come out to feed late afternoons or early morning. They can be hard to get too and fly surprisingly fast.
The wild turkey is usually smaller and has a smaller breast than what you get in the store. A stronger taste too.
