Something Very Interesting...

Robert E Lee rode a very special horse named "Traveller", an American Saddlebred show horse. Traveller was 16 hands high and an iron grey. Over the years since his death in 1871, Traveller's remains were periodically vandalized, put on exhibition and bleached, In 1907, the skelton was put on display in the Washington and Lee University. In 1929, the horse's bones were finally interred near the Lee Chapel, where Traveller is at long last, able to rest near his beloved master. The gates at the site of interment are symbolically left open, so Traveller can be at the ready for Gen Lee.
