So far, so good. H1N1 was rampant on campus at Clemson Univ this fall. Luckily I'm retired and was able to avoid being around it. My wife and I are constant users of hand sanitizer. I think it really helps. We did get our seasonal flu shots in October. There is such a shortage of H1N1 flu shots that we aren't going to get one. Our daughter, son-in-law and their 3-year old boy did get it. They have a baby at home.
There has not been any evidence that the shot is beneficial, but plenty to show that it can cause severe neurological problems, ADD/ADHD, autism, cancer and a host of other things you definitely want to avoid. Several medical polls you can find easily on the internet show that almost 80% of the doctors questioned emphatically said that they had no intention of getting one and would not allow any family member to get one. That's all I need to know.

That's not the story around here. But, everyone has to make their own decision.
Oh yes, the shot for H1N1 is very controversial and has caused some severe problems in some people while others had no problems. When it 1st came out, people were afraid that it had been put it together too fast to be safe, like some of the new meds that come out and cause people a lot of other problems and then you see attorneys advertise for people to join class action sits on them.
Often, when flu shots are available, they're not even for the strains that are being passed around, they just hope to keep some of the various strains of flu from spreading, which is the most they can hope for. I follow this stuff very closely and look at all sides of it, then I make up my mind about what to do. I personally don't ever and still won't get flu shots of any kind myself...and yes bugman, you're right, everyone must weigh the odds of what's right or wrong for themselves and their dependent loved ones.
So far so good for my family:-) I've had a flu shot (regular flu) and a pneumonia shot, OUCH!
typo correction: above, I meant to say class action lawSUITS instead of lawSITS!!
My cousin's husband died of it. He was 46, got sick on Thursday evening, went into the hospital Friday morning and died at 7pm Friday. He lived in Canfield, Ohio.
