How do you keep from becoming a victim of an attitude of negativity?....For me personally
the glass is always half full, never half empty, but i meet so many people that are negative
about every situation. One can easily be drawn into being cynical if you allow your self to be.

you just said it--"if you allow your self to be"
we ALWAYS have a choice over what we think--thoughts become things, so I (try) to stay clear of that type of negativity. It means I make a conscious effort.
Cynicism is very prevalent, no doubt about it, but I also believe that behind the negativity is fear--plain and simple. To me, people are acting out of either fear or it's opposite, which is LOVE--I choose to act from love as much as I possibly can.
negativity and cynacism can be contagious. i try to avoid it, or ignore it whenever possible. i find i surround myself with mainly positive thinking people. for me it is very stressful to always hear the gloom and doom stuff.
Thank you ladies,i know you are both upbeat positive thinking adults..

I agree with Stacy that so much of the negativity is fear. When you come from a place of fear you can't help but be negative.
Trying to stay positive and upbeat in a world that is sometimes very negative can be hard but if you have a grateful, loving heart you can find the goodness in anything.
Oh! Yes, yes on all counts. Glass half full or half empty? What do you see? Look for the positive people.
On my profile page is "embracing the optimism." This is the only way I can live my life. You know there is a new study out about positive energy vs. negative energy and how either can influence people around you. I choose to be positive and believe me, it is a choice........
lost said much of the negativity is fear. does this mean that if someone we know is negative about a lot of stuff they are also afraid of many things also? just so i understand this better, if they got rid of their fears (fear of hurt, fear of being left out, fear of being rejected) their negativity would go away? i never thought of it that way...
Maybe it's just a habit or the way someone is raised. My family always looks for something bad and it drives me crazy. Luckily, crazy is not always a bad thing................................, unlike negativity, which I believe is.
