This weekend, a 28 year old man was beaten to death by 5 teenage boys. 4 was 16 and 1 was 17. These punks were speeding down the street in Wylie, TX. The 28 year old man yelled at them to slow down. They left but came back later to beat him to death. Does this mean that teenagers now hold power over us? Whatever became of respect your elders?
Are we talking gang members here? None of these boys would have done that all alone and that is classic gang behavior. Teenagers can be very scary and they know it, especially males. They're like dogs and horses, they can sense your fear and will take advantage of it and intimidate whenever they can, if they are so inclined. All those boys deserve life in prison, regardless of age.
Years ago, while stationed in CA, there was a news report about 2 men who stomped a 5 or 6 year old girl to death. They had grabbed her and her little sister off the sidewalk and put them in the back of a van. They put the youngest one out shortly after picking them up, I don't know why. When rescued she told her parents that her sister was crying and the men were really mad. The older childs body was found some time later. In a vineyard, I think. While horrifying in itself, what glared out at me when I first read the story, and still does, is that 2 humans capable of that level of depraved atrocity would meet and join forces. There was also a case here several years ago where a couple of jr. high boys beat a retarded man to death. If I remember right, one of their weapons was some sort of toy. Perhaps if these people hadn't been together egging one another on, nothing would have happened. I can almost see at least one of the boys in the car afraid to join in, but just as afraid of being labeled a 'woose'. Hopefully the punishment will fit the crime. That sure isn't the case in a lot of incidents these days, especially when juveniles are involved.
I do think one problem is with movies and TV. Kids see people getting beat up severly and then they get up and go about their business. This is not reality and kids don't recognize reality until it is too late. That does not excuse a bunch of kids when they kill another human. And kids brought up right would not think of going back around to beat up a guy for something so petty. Like buffalo says, this appears to be gang mentality, but that doesn't excuse any of them, either.
Too sad - maybe these punk kids should have consequences - jail time, a trial and then execution. That might stop the next 3 that think their courage runs on beating up people. Severe, yes, but much needed in this country. We let our kids rule and reign. Time to put a stop to this and get the controls back.
I think this is a situation of mob violence. One of these kids alone would have been too wissy to do anything. However, together they felt strong enough to attack one lone man and beat him to death. I do think our sentences for juveniles are too lenient in a lot of cases. I think kids should get the same kind of sentences as adults. Put them in reform school (or whatever they call it now) until they are 18 and then transfer them to adult prison until they serve out their sentences.
Belleview says, These punks were speeding down the street in Wylie, TX. The 28 year old man yelled at them to slow down.
How fast were they speeding? What was the posted speed limit there? Did the 28 year-old use inflammatory language or make any threatening gestures? Did he have a past history with these boys? Maybe he should have gotten a license number, and just reported it to the police instead of standing in the street, screaming at them. "Elders" get respect when they act like respectable Elders.
So Baxtor.....are you implying that he got what was coming to him? Have you ever called the police to report speeders, or reckless drivers? I have and what I've been told is that there is nothing the police can do unless they have proof. A license number is not proof.
In matters of crime and punishment I am a hard ass..........
If you are capable of doing the crime............
And you are incapable of undoing it .....
You get punished, not rehabed
Regardless of your age, sex, religion, upbringing, mental condition, drunk, drugged, ethnicity, culture, financial condition, social status, political beliefs...............
