Theater or Home

Just curious, what percentage of movie viewing do you do in a theater and which percentage is done at home.
If it is home, do you watch a DVD or do you use a download service?

I have been only to a theater four times this year, it used to be at least once a month.

I prefer to watch movies at home on DVD.

At home, I can turn the lights off, crank up the surround sound system, the popcorn and drinks don't cost an arm and a leg, push the pause button for a potty break, there's no wailing baby to listen to, and my chair is the most comfortable one in the house! What could be better than that? lol

I've always been big on movies. As a kid I was hooked on Saturday matinees at the local theater and any other movie I could see.

I watch 99% DVDs at home. Right now I have Netflix but I've also used Blockbuster, rent from the local library and I own some.

I pretty much quit going to theaters because the sound is so incredibly loud plus if it's a multi-theater, you can hear the other movie plus laughter through the walls. Who needs it?

The last movie I saw at a theater was "Sicko."

I liked going to the theater with friends where we used to live but we moved, so, I will watch more DVD's.

I get too cranky with rude, noisy people in theaters so I watch movies at home on DVD, although I guess I could watch online, since I have that option with Netflix. It's just easier and more comfortable to be in your own home and have the ability to pause the movie if you need to and you don't have to listen to people talking or answering their phone or generally behaving as if they are the only person on earth.

I will go to the theater to see movies that Gerard Butler is in...love seeing him on the BIG screen! I also go with my daughter when she wants to see something since her husband does not like to go. We recently saw "Where the Wild Things Are" (loved it)and right after that we saw Law Abiding Citizen." Most of the time I watch DVDs since Ireally do have a hard time sitting in one spot for very long.

It's so annoying sitting in front of people eating pop corn, rattling paper, and there's nothing to do to stop it. This happened to me last week during the French Film "Coco Before Chanel". The sound of people eating can be so distracting. If I could see new movies at home, I'd never go to a theater.. Do you think that we will ever be able to see brand new movies on our TV set?

I like watching at home. Only a few exceptions when I go out to see films in the theatre. At $13 a wop, it can get expensive, plus some movies I wait until they hit video release and buy it on the first release day at 14.95 which proves to be more frugal. I can watch it as many times as I want, plus I like the special features.

I used to go to the movies once a week - there was nothing like being in the theatre and experiencing a great film with an audience. Now, I wait to watch at home and sometimes it is better. It is so much $$$$ now that it isn't worth it to me.

We go to the theatre less and less these days. We will probably go over the holidays and I usually go see the nominated films after they have been announced. Most of the movies we see are from Netflix. It's just so convenient.

I watch HD movies pay per view on our flat screen TV home theater.

We just saw the 3d Christmas Carol at the threater. Most of our movie watching is at home.

My wife finds the 4 different remote controls for our home theater difficult. I wrote her a picture book of instructions with arrows to the buttons to push. You can see it at www.TheRemoteControlBook.com
