Party Rye Delights

Shared this with another group. Just made 4 loaves of these for the freezer to have on hand for the upcoming parties, etc. Used half ground beef and half ground turkey.

2 loaves party rye (I like to use one light and one dark)
2 pounds lean ground beef or ground sirloin (cooked, drained and crumbled)
(some people like to use half beef / half sausage or a combination of beef and ground poultry)
1 T. Italian Seasoning
1 T. Worcestershire Sauce
1 lb. Velveeta Cheese, cubed

Once beef is cooked and drained, add the rest of the ingredients except the bread and mix well until cheese melts. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper. Lightly spread the slices of party rye with mixture and place on cookie sheet. When you have one layer, top with another sheet of waxed paper. Continue until all bread slices are spread with mixture. Top with one last sheet of waxed paper and tightly cover all with foil. Place in freezer and leave until totally frozen solid. Once frozen solid remove to zip-loc bags and replace in freezer. When you need an appetizer remove what you need, place on cookie sheet and place under a broiler for a couple of minutes until bubbly. Watch carefully so they don't burn. Enjoy!

Of course, you don't have to freeze these you can make them ahead of time if you wish, place in fridge until ready to broil and serve. I tend to make triple batches of these, freeze and use throughout the holiday season. Even if someone just drops in last minute, you have quick and yummy appetizers to serve. For the holidays nice to top with a half of a grape tomato before serving. Also nice are small slender slices of red and green pepper crossed in an X on top. For a summer party quarter a pineapple cube and top with small piece of pineapple for tropical taste.

You know if this can be frozen & made ahead, I think I will try this out for the holidays coming up also.

Just froze almost 10 dozen. That is the beauty of them. They take a little time to make, but once you have made a big batch like I did this afternoon, you are set for the holiday season. I keep an assortment of pre-made appetizer type things ready for holiday parties and last minute guests. I will be adding things throughout the coming weeks.
