Try using dishwashing liquid, hot water and a toothbrush--if this is to your satisfaction, be sure to do this after each shower so that you dont get a lot of build-up.
I use Lime Away. But it only last for about 5 months. The toothbrush thing sounds like it might last longer
Put vingar in a plastic bag, tie it so the shower head is covered with vingar and leave it over night.
ragmop has the right idea. If you can't remove the showerhead to soak in a cleaning solution, bring the solution to the showerhead... although, I would use a mixture of Limeaway and water, maybe even some vinagar.
I like the vinegar idea - I've used Limeaway before and don't care for it. The strongers cleaners like that seem to go right to my lungs. I avoid those.

If you are tying viengar or LimeAway in a bag over your head - be careful and wear some glasses - that LimeAway can melt scale - I would take the shower head off and soak it in a dish of LimeAway if at all possible.
vinegar is the way to go. if you can warm it up its even better. lime away is full of chemicals that are basically the same as vinegar. its cheaper and safer. the plastic bag works, or hang a bucket. good luck.
sounds like you need a water softener. if its in your shower head, its in your pipes and clogging them up the same way.
yes RAGMOP40, has the trick. Try removing shower head first ,put it in a deep small bowl or extra large mug, cover with white vingear , sit some thing non-metal on top of that to keep it down in the suluation, let sit over night. Rinse out with very warm water. PUT BACK ON.
dont forget the teflon tape. which will need to be replaced with each removal and return.
thank you for everyones help,i cleaned it with vinegar and used it ,it helped a little ,[not enough] ,so i went out to wallmart and got another for$ 5.98 ,,i guess i should have done that in the first place.
