The Happiness Factor

Are you as happy now in retirement as you thought you would be?

Yes. I'm as happy now in retirement as I thought I would be and maybe more. I'm so glad not to have to go into work every day. Life is so much more stress free. I'm active and keep myself busy. Life is good!!

I,m as happy as I can be. I would be alot happier if my finances were better. Don,t let anyone tell you that money can,t buy happiness. It may not buy everything you need in life, such as your health, but it sure can put a big smile on your face.

Never been happier. Come & go as I please. Sleep & eat when I want. Pretty much a stress free life so far & this is my 6th year of retirement.

I love it but before I retired, I thought long and hard about what I wanted and how I would fill up my days then I created the retirement plan. Joygirl68 makes a great point. I spend some of my time volunteering and writing. I love both and they don't cost anything but there are a lot of free/low cost things to do out there. We go to the movies usually once a week on senior day. We pay $4 to $6 for tickets depending on the theater. Most museums have a free day or an inexpensive senior admission. I live in a college community so there are always exhibits, lectures, concerts etc that are free. The college also offers free college courses to seniors so in January I'm going to learn to speak Italian. There are things out there but not always very easy to find. Honestly, I can't understand how I ever found the time to work! Happy retirement everyone.

Ditto - life doesn't get any better than this. Love it, love it. Never bored, always happy. Only thing that would make it better is my hubby retiring.

Laraine, I also live in a college town & there is never a shortage of things to do & lots of voluntee opertunities. We have a free magizine that comes out every other month called "Senior Times". It is great for keeping up on what is going on. They also request poems & articles to publish. I have had 2 poems published.
Keeping busy keeps us young at heart even if not in body.

I'm not feeling as fulfilled as I thought I would feel. There are things I am interested in, but without a critical mass of people with the same interest and goals (as a team at work), I have a hard time maintaining the effort needed to feel fulfilled. I guess this means I need a community to pursue each of my interests. I either need to find such communities or I need to develop an inner drive for pursuing goals by myself.
