I have never been on Facebook. I come here because I enjoy the back and forth play between the members.
I came to Eons because one of the grieving groups was recommended to me, when my wife died. A nurse at the hospital discovered the site, after the death of her husband. She wrote down the web-site and handed it to me when I was leaving the hospital, telling me there was going to come a point in time that I was going to want to talk with other widowers and widows. I found the piece of paper in my wallet about 9 months later. After awhile I started checking out other groups, and like coalminerwife, I enjoy visiting with other people. Life has gotten busy for me again, so I don't get as much time here as I once did. I'm trying to take advantage of the fall weather and get alot of outside work done on the lake house. I got about 3 years behind on chores when my wife got sick, and summers here are too hot for much outside work, in the sun. I also got married, this past July, and we're doing a "little updating" on her city house. I "kinda" take a couple days a week to rest a little, fish a little, and visit on the computer a little. I have really enjoyed the time with alot of the people here. I haven't physically met anyone from Eons, yet, but there are many I would probably enjoy meeting.
Age membership. Working on a University campus and one of the oldest employee in my building, I don't encounter people who can relate to my life experiences. Also, for more exposure to male viewpoints, believe it or not. I come from a very matriarchal household and my social circles are so female dominate. I have basically zero male conversations for days, even months on end. VERY, very limiting. I enjoy hearing what the men think about, have to say and why.
CONGRATULATIONS TO FIREGUY!

Who is the lucky bride???

>>DD: Age membership.<<
I like being around people my own age. Like to think we are a bit more seasoned than some others one might meet.
I also hope some sort of shared history might provoke sympathy for my sorry excuse of a life.

I joined eons 2 1/2 years ago after my husband saw it advertised on TV, it was curiosity that made me join. I have made friends here and have met 4 of these friends in person, they are great folks and we will be getting together again soon.

IDK, it all started with my doing the life expectancy thing. That drew me in, I guess. Now I am a regular poster on 13 groups and moderator of three. It's been over three years!
I also signed up for Facebook and Twitter... and to this day, have never posted one sentence!
I enjoy EONS for the people it attracts. I found it while browsing the Internet. I do not socialize much because of health and mobility issues. I have found because of our age group we have a lot in commoneven if we are not the same.Hugs
I like being with adults ;-)
Although I am one of the younger people here on Eons, I appreciate the maturity of the "congregation." I haven't seen much of the immature sniping and nastiness here that I have seen on other social networking sites.
I tried Yahoo 360 (before they closed it), but was never really comfortable there.
I have a profile on MySpace because of my kids... I found that it helped me to keep up with what was going on in their lives over the last several years... They've kind of outgrown it, though... and so, so have I.
I am also on Twitter, but have never really used it... I've posted a couple of times, but I find it a little weird that everyone on earth could know where I am and what I am doing at any given time.
I must confess that I have never tried Facebook... I got comfortable here at Eons, and even though some real life friends sent me invitations to join, I just never did.
I love the Groups on Eons... The site morphs into any and everything you need/want it to be... And people here are generally SO friendly!
