I hardly ever recall th e name of bands - Iliked the one with Herb Albert . . .
1. The Beach Boys
2. The Beatles
3. The Rolling Stones
Where are yours Skeeter???
Well, that's not fair because they change all of the time depending on the mood I'm in! But, if I HAVE to rank them, right now I'm watching the following on YouTube:
#3 - Heart
#2 - Fleetwood Mac (specifically Stevie Nicks)
#1 - Journey
Well, wait a minute, that leaves out The Commadores and Queen and Jefferson Airplane/Starship and Gladys Knight and the Pips and.....
My favorite groups are The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Lynrd Skynrd, in no particular order. I really like alot of groups, so it is difficult to pick three. Soloists? No doubt, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson.
I can't think of a number three, since there are a number of bands whose sounds I like. I have to admit, I don't know that much about popular music, now or back when.
For the sake of argument, Buddy Holly and The Crickets comes in at number two on my all-time hit parade of bands, if for no other reason than they laid the groundwork for a lot that was to follow. And their stuff was good -- sounds good today, just as it did back when I was a kid.
My new favorite band is one I discovered for the first time again only a couple of weeks ago: The Dave Clark 5. The best stuff they did had a high volume, simple sound with a hard driving beat, and for six or seven songs, that was the best rock-n-roll ever was. My opinion only. The Beatles offered an incomparable variety of first-class product, but for taking me back to those days of yore, when the world and I were both young and in better shape, the DC5 is it.

Thanks for asking, Carol.
#1 would have to be "His Band of Renown," as in "James Brown and His Band of Renown."
Tightest band I've ever heard.
I guess my sentimental favorite #2 is The Stones. Lori and I were comped to pretty good seats for the Steel Wheels Tour playing the L.A. Coliseum. They were tight, too. I cried when they played Ruby Tuesday because it made me think of my First.
#3 I'll withhold judgment for now and think about it. I have an idea, but need more time.
>>The Commadores -- DD<<
The Commadores were fantastic but I think they were a singing group. Weren't (aren't) they four guys singing?
Love the Commadores but don't know the name of their band.

fireguy, fireguy, please...we'll do another thread on soloists!
: = )
I must say Creedence is a great band but I've never seen them live. Lynrd Skynrd must be great but I don't know the oeuvre.
.
Well, I'm off the hook with The Commadores, Queen and Gladys Knight et al, then. WHEW! :O)
