JAMAICA ROAD

(This is in patois so needs to be read aloud to get the meaning)

Watch it! Draw brakes! Blow de horn loud, loud!
Truck a come. Taxi a pass. Mini-bus a turn.
Watch de road! Not de traffic. Watch de road!
Pothole everywhere!
Mad, mad driving. Fas' fas' driving.
Pure madman behine de wheel.
Horn a blow. Driver a cuss. Road rage a tek yuh.
De res' a de driver dem is all insane.
Everybody a move fas'. Everybody a head fi de neares' bar.
Dem ca'an wait fi yuh!
Dem will lick yuh down if yuh don' get outa dem way!
Don' watch no scenery. Don' talk to yuh fren'.
Just drive!
Maybe pray a likkle bit.
But watch it!
Blow de horn and drive!

Sounds like a really wild ride Jane! There are a lot of roads around here just like this one that I posted. I guess one good thing comes of it- not as much speeding as there is on the ones in better condition!

I really enjoy the posts you do in the local patois.

What a fun read! I did as you said and read it out loud...and had to laugh when I messed it up!

Life is like those roads, isn't it?

Thank you for sharing, Jane!

Very interesting - I've never run into anything quite like it - different, but self-explanatory!
