I do not. I can not afford to and the money that would go to them, actually is going to Shala, and had gone to Kala before she died. If I could it would go to Michigan Humane Society.
I give money donations to the Souris Valley Humane Society in Minot, ND. It isn't a large amount; I have also donated cat food and kitty-litter.
I haven't donated lately either. Any extra money, if you could call it that, is going towards Zoie and her medical bills. But there are other ways to help. You could buy a raffle ticket for something, for a rescue group, or donate a couple of cans of dog food. It doesn't have to be expensive food or much of it. The local shelters sometimes have need of blankets or towels for their shelters. They don't have to be new. The Humane Society of Savannah has a thrift store you can donate goods to, like the left over yard sale items you didn't sell and it's tax deductible. The local vets office recycles cell phones for donations. There are many ways to help, some don't cost you anything but time. I need to get off my butt and donate something! I know I have two old phones I could donate!
I donate to ASPCA, and to our local Animal shelters. Since I also rescue animals on my own, have them doctored and spayed before I find homes for them, I do not give additional donations. And of course most of my animals are rescues (Smootch, Katie, Sooshi, Schatzi and Zena-dog) too. I saw one of Coppervalli's suggestions in the "Spayed" comments where she names an organization that has a show on Animal world. If I could support one more organization, that would be it.
I dont usually donate money becouse Im on a very fixed income, but I do make the pet snuggie beds and donate these to the animal shelters.
Summerrain: what is a snuggie bed? That sounds so cute, and if it doesn't involve a lot of sewing, I may want to do that too.
There are several ways to make suggie beds sigrid4nee1.You can crochet them, knit them,or sew them if you like. They are just little beds made very easy that the shelter folks use so the animals can have a washable comfy bed to sleep on.If you crochet them or knit them they are kind of bowl shaped, and if you sew them they are just flat.I'll see if I can find a pattern for you ok?
view link If you scroll down towards the bottom of page in this link you will see several other links for, crochet, knit or sewed snuggies.Even though this link talks about stitchforacause in Kenntucky you can contact you local shelter and Im sure they would be pleased to have the snuggies.
Summer, what an awesome idea, thanks! Definately going to check out that link, and as long as there's not alot of sewing...I would rather knit. Being on disability, funds are limited. I do what I can, when I can! I know when Carley passed, I had boxes of IV fluids, needles and tubing...and the humane society was more than happy to have it, I couldn't see just throwing it out. I wonder how much money is actually used for the animals when you donate to every animal flyer you get in the mail, when I am able to donate, I stick with well known ones or local ones. Snuggies, what an awesome idea! Thanks!!
I sometimes donate cash but mostly I just take in old towels, extra paper towels, bleach (buy 2 when it's on sale), canned cat food when it's on sale and I have coupons, etc. People will bring extra meds or equipment and supplies when their pets pass away. At RAL, 92% of funds that we get goes directly to benefit the animals.
