late introduction

Its been a while since I joined this group - I've been really discouraged - I've tried every diet known to the human race - and I've lost a lot of weight over the years, only to have it gradually creep back.

I've come to the conclusion that I should quit trying to diet - that is when I really started having weight issues. Only whole grains, no transfats, more fruit and veggies - and - more exercise - which wouldn't be difficult - since I haven't been exercising much at all.

This was the first day of my new "healthy style of eating" and so far so good. When the rain is over, I'll take one of my dogs for a walk around the neighborhood.

like most, we forget that it has to be a lifestyle change and not just a 6 weeks diet or 6 months. If you dont kee[p up the good eating and exercising, the weight comes back, usually dragging along a little more with it. Its so hard to get into a new habit...but I have heard it only takes doing something 21 days to make it one...I seem to loose the will power. I had that once, so very long ago...I could have a box of candy in my room and only eat one a day(one piece...smile)...Now, If I have a box in my room, I eat the whole box!

VBG - that is so true and I'm just weary of trying to stay on a diet or program, or whatever they want to call it.

Your post reminds me very much of dear departed friend, who, like me, was always trying to lose weight - she had some candy at her house that she was having a hard time resisting. She told me, well, I ate it all - now I don't have to worry about it anymore!

I think of Betty often these days - think - if I ate it all, then I wouldn't have to worry about it. I don't, of course, but it brings a smile to my face when I remember her.
