Its Not Just Me!!!

...and I am not imagining it--people are starting Holiday preperations, and getting into the holiday spirit early this year!
I always have graet intentions, but am the worst procatinator about getting an early start...BUT!!,not this year. I havealready started getting the decorations together for the store, and have been buying a couple of gifts each week for the kids. Yesterday they had a real nice sale on spiral cut hams (and if tou got one you got a coupon for a discounted price on a turkey). I got a 23 pound turkey for 4.00. Later I had to go back to the store to pick up something for someone else and I decided to get another. So now I have 2 HUGE hams and two large turkeys in my freezer.

However...Mtwomns hitting Pennys at 7:30 for a sale...JH is getting starting on Christmas crafts...Johns already hanging Christmas lights...... It seems that folks everywhere are getting an early start. I wonder...could it be that because people are worried abut the ecomomy and feel they need to get started sooner --so they can stretch their dollars farther? OR...is it because people are starting to feel more hopeful, and better about the ecomomy? Maybe we have just been 'down" too long, and are ready to start picking ourselves up,and making ourselves feel better--regardless of what 'they' do with our economical state.

I think I am ready for holiday cheer!

Pat, it does seem to be starting early this year, for all those reasons. The merchants hope to make as much as they can in a down economy, so they are pitching their sales early on. I for one need to stretch my fixed income budget and if I can jump on a sale, I will. That snow suit for my grandson was a screaming deal and I'm pleased that I saw the ad.

I think the season has been starting early for years as folks get busier and busier and know if they dawdle around, they'll make themselves crazy by waiting to the last minute.

I say...let 'er rip. How about an egg nog?

Hey ladies.....I cannot in good faith, join the early Christmas efforts, other than maybe putting the roof lights up with the warm weather we still have this week....otherwise, I'm too much of a traditionalist...no Christmas music or shows until after Thanksgiving....however, I will hope the other half is checking for SALES!!

TC, I'm with you about the music and shows. But, I have to admit to buying Christmas and Holiday cards and getting out the card lists. They sit on the breakfast counter and I will write a few every morning until their done. As for the outside lights we cut out half of them last year because of the high electric rate and I think we'll keep it the same this year.

No tree for me until after Thanksgiving. Already did the shopping for the grandkids last March. There's a very nice children's clothing store that has a big markdown 80% on their winter holiday clothes and coats in March.

This Christmas I wil be traveling to my daughters house in Baltimore Md.
I have started my shopping, and am about to get the cards out and start to get a jump on them, too.
I shop sales all year thru, and have a box in the spare bedroom, into which I place them.I put sticky notes on em so I wont forget who gets what...
Probably no tree this year...but will do some decorating of my entry way and living room.

But here's the thing - I am desperate for some garland and a tree skirt for this tree at the hospital and many stores have only a few Christmas things out. This tree must be decorated by Nov. 15th in order to be raffled off over a period of a few weeks. And I want it to be nice - the competition is stiff. There are several trees decorated by different companies or departments and people buy tickets and then place them in the box in front of the tree they want to win.
